The club needs observers for this trial if you can help. We have a good nucleus of folks who always help out with the boards, but a few more on SATURDAY would be good as we clash with Cumberland County's twinshock trial the same day. It will also give a good impression to the rock concert spectators.

And from one new venue three weeks ago to another new venue, where on SATURDAY September 8 we will be running a trial in conjunction with Hellsfells, a charity rock concert/social gathering/mountain bike festival at Marthwaite Foot, Middleton near Sedbergh, LA10 5ES, in aid of The Community Self Build Agency and the linked Veterans Self Build Agency.

The club has been invited by farmer and charity campaigner Brian Capstick to put on a afternoon event on his land and following a recce by two of Lancs County's committee, they have found a short but really sensible set of sections alongside the River Rawthey.

The land is on the other side of the river from the land used by Westmorland for their Nostalgia Trial, and permission for both these trials has been generously given by both the Northern Centre board and also the Westmorland Club. Parking is good, and should riders want to camp there overnight for the festival and for the following day's family activities, then they will be made welcome.

The Hellsfells festival, https://www.hellsfells.co.uk/trial bike competition which is over the full weekend of September 7/8/9 has full details of the event where up to 1000 families will gather for music, food, biking and entertainment. Lancs County will be part of the weekend with the trial starting at 2pm on the Saturday afternoon for four laps of ten sections over a normal Clubman Hard and Clubman Easy course. The trial will form part of the Sunday series, even though it will be on a Saturday afternoon. Take a look at the website where a video of the 1988 Kickstart is featured, used, so that the uninitiated get some idea of the sport as so many of them still see it.

And here's the latest information from the festival organisers, there will be a number of food stalls on the field, which the charity is making further margin on as I am supplying the meat at cost. There will also be a lot going on for the kids with a bouncy castle, ice cream, treasure hunt, etc if the riders want to bring family along. Also on Saturday afternoon there will be a mountain bike relay changing over on the field and a raft race up on Killington Lake if any of the families want to get involved.

The live music is starting mid-afternoon, running through to 10pm with the following line up:

Kev Kendal - The Acoustic Mod. You won’t be able to hold back as you find yourself singing along with Kev as he plays you some of the all time greatest Soul, Mod and Brit Pop songs

Old Rope - 4 piece Blackpool band playing their brand of Rock and Blues

STRANGEWAYS - A classic Punk Rock band, cracking out LOUD classic rock from favourite including The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Buzzcocks and many more.

Rich and the Poor - Local Sedbergh band who have made a name for themselves in these part playing a mixture of classic covers as well as original songs.

Ska Face - A 10 piece Ska band playing classic Ska and 2 Tone including Madness, The specials, Bad Manners and many more!

There is also a Young Farmers Tug of War competition on Saturday evening, so if the riders have the energy, they are more than welcome to enter a team or 2.

The bar is being sponsored by Robinsons Brewery "Light Brigade Beers" in association with Help for Heroes and the rock group Iron Maiden. It will be open all afternoon and evening with a Prossecco and Gin bar for the ladies.

So, it is all coming together now, the local promotion really kicks off next week and we will be telling everyone how pleased we are to be supported by you guys and encouraging spectators to come along. Thanks again.
