British Trials Championship Round 5

This Sunday sees the R T Keedwell sponsored ACU British Trials Championship moves into the second half of the 2018 series with the Guisborough and District MCC playing host to the John Hardaker Trial this coming Bank Holiday Sunday at Aislaby, close to Whitby, North Yorkshire. Postcode YO21 1SF.

The format will be the usual BTC one consisting of three laps of 12 sections starting at 9.30 am when the Expert group will be first away. The entry list for this category consists of the usual suspects - series leader Richard Sadler, Guy Kendrew and Dan Thorpe. Sadler holds a comfortable 14-point lead from Kendrew with Thorpe a further 13 adrift. Richard has not been off the podium this series with two wins and two seconds.

The newly introduced Master’s Class sees Ross Danby go for his fifth win in a row as he tries to consolidate his position from Tom Affleck.

It has been tough going for the Elite Youth battling the Expert route markings on 125 cc machines. Mitchell Brightmore holds a six-point lead over Gus Oblien with Brett Harbud in third. Mitchell has had to sit out the last few weeks with an injury whilst the other two were getting in some serious practice at last weekend’s North Berks Supertrial where Gus took the Elite Youth top award.

In the main championship class James Dabill has a 100 percent record to date. Four wins out of four sees the multi champion hold a 16-point lead over 2017 winner Jack Price. There is a hugely competitive battle going on in the class with people like Toby Martyn, the Peace brothers and Jack Sheppard all battling it out. The overall standard is superb with most of these riders having been in World Championship competition this year.
