2013 X-Trial Championship Round 4

gemrnay bou montesaThis Saturday, Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) achieved his seventh X-Trial world championship, all consecutive, after winning the fourth and penultimate scoring event. These seven indoor titles, added to those he holds in outdoor trials, all riding a Montesa Cota 4RT, have confirmed Toni Bou as the greatest awardwinning rider in the history of this motorcycling speciality. His track record in the X-Trial World Championship is overwhelming: 35 victories, the last 20 being consecutive, in 55 events he has participated in. And all at the age of just 26.

Toni Bou dominated with an iron fist both the semi-final, which he ended with zero points -the same result as in the qualifying lap - and with the new title already under his arm, as well as the final, where he obtained a single point due to excess time in the first of the four individual zones.

Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) was unable to repeat the podium position he obtained in the two previous events. Three consecutive mistakes in the semi-final stopped him from accessing the definitive phase of the event.

Toni Bou: “It's been a very special event, with some moments of tension at the beginning and absolutely joyful in the final, in which I performed without any pressure at all, absolutely free and not thinking of anything except winning. To face the final knowing I'm already the champion has been fantastic, I enjoyed it enormously. The bike was perfect, as always, and to  feel supported by the team, my family and friends is sensational. The only thing I can do is to be grateful to them”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “I did well in the qualifying lap, but in the first zone of the semi-final I wanted to go fast so as no to get penalised by time and made a mistake that led me to lose concentration. It's been a good day for Toni and the team, but I'm not very satisfied personally. There's one remaining event to end the championship and my possibilities to end in a podium position are real, so I'm going to think positive”. update
