2012 FIM Trial World Championship Round 4, Day 2

montesa-hrc-logoThe injuries suffered by Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami on the first day of the Spanish Trial Grand Prix did not alter the results of the two official Montesa riders on the second day of this event. Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT), who had injured the femoral biceps of his left leg, obtained an overwhelming victory, the seventh consecutive win in this season. The plurichampion ended with less than half the score of his closest rival and increased his advantage as leader in the championship to 41 points, aiming for what could be his sixth consecutive title.

Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) recovered from the intense pain in the little finger of his right hand and competed bravely in the first lap of the track, administering his energy in the second. In these conditions, the fourth position achieved by the Japanese rider felt like a victory.

Francesc Moret (Montesa) repeated second position in the Junior category, the same he has in the general classification.

Toni Bou: “In situations like these you appreciate the team spirit. I’m grateful for the support of the entire team from first to last. The pain did not stop me riding the bike in this event in which it was fundamental to work well and avoid making mistakes, although I’m sure this did no good to my muscular lesion and even if I don’t want to, I’ll have to rest for a few days. This victory has been very important for the championship. In this respect, the weekend’s been perfect”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “I had a difficult day, due to the pain and numbness. In the first lap I let loose all my temper, but then I had to take it a bit easier. In my condition, it was unthinkable to finish fourth and of course I’m very satisfied with this result, which felt like a victory for me today”.
