Pre-65 Scottish Fast Approaching

Simon Sharp At Aluminium Works Day 1 2015 Scottish Pre 65 Trial 2A great supporter of the Pre-65 Trial, Simon Sharp in action in the 2015 eventThe “Hope Technology” sponsored Pre’65 Scottish Trial 2017 is set to get underway in just over a week’s time on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 April 2017.  This trial is dedicated to the memory of Simon Sharp who very sadly passed away last summer.

We are lucky to welcome two Guests of Honour this year, James Dabill who will be on hand to present the trophies to the award winners at the Presentation on Saturday evening and local Kinlochleven man, John MacGregor as “Start Ramp Guest of Honour” to flag off the riders.

The Clerk of the Course has confirmed that the course will be similar to 2016 with Pipeline only being used on Saturday to lower the impact on the SSSI in the Leven Valley.  There are several new roadside sections and the Primary School are again running the shuttle minibus service to all the sections close to the road on both days.  This service was introduced in 2016 to help the primary school raise funds for the children and proved to be very beneficial to the trial by alleviating some of the parking problems at these sections.  Please make good use of this service and donate generously to this worthy cause.

The first 8 reserve riders are happy as they have all secured a place.  Any reserve rider who has not had a “lucky phone call” before travelling to Kinlochleven with their bike, please come into the Trial Office to sign on Anne’s “List of Hopeful’s” sheet after 3pm on Thursday.  Should any last minute rides become available, reserve riders on that list are given priority in their reserve number order.

The Parade of Bikes will take place at 9.30am on Friday 28 April and the Presentation of Awards at 9pm on Saturday 29 April 2017.  The hall will be open for the presentation from 7pm where you can enjoy a drink at the bar, watch some video footage of the trial and enjoy some chat.

We will again have Pre’65 Scottish Trial merchandise for sale and Gill Weir and her team will be in the Leven Centre during Thursday Sign-on, in the Start Areas on both days and at the Presentation on Saturday night so you will have plenty of opportunity to purchase.

We hope to be able to get results and updates onto the Pre’65 News Page on www.ssdt.org throughout the event.

The Pre’65 Scottish Trial Committee would like to thank all the volunteers who have offered their services to officiate at the trial and we look forward to putting on another first class event which we hope you will all enjoy.  Let’s hope the weather is kind to us – finger’s crossed!!!!!
