- Trials Central
Whilst the British men were battling it out at Addingham Moorside courtesy of Yeadon Guiseley, the British Women’s and Girls’ Championship also saw competition today with Richmond Motor Club playing host to the fifth and penultimate round of the Ladies 2012 series.
In what has been an on-going battle between reigning champion, Becky Cook – Beta and rising OSSA star Emma Bristow, both of whom had won two rounds apiece prior to today’s contest, it was Cook who was to prevail by a margin of seventeen points over her championship rival who had to settle for second place on this occasion with Donna Fox – Beta claiming the remaining podium position.
In the A Class, young Nikita Smith-Gas Gas took top honours with a considerable fifty-two point margin over second place Chloe Richardson – Sherco. Young Scottish rider, Bronwyn Palmer – Gas Gas made her Championship debut and claimed third place.
The B class saw seven riders compete with Hannah Richardson – Gas Gas taking top podium position with a twenty three point margin over second placed Victoria Payne – Beta who just pushed Louise Alford – Beta back into third position.
Over in the Intermediate Class, local girl Robyn Alderson – Gas Gas made the most of home advantage to win by twelve points over another local girl, Jessica Brown – Sherco with Lucy Gregg – Gas Gas completing the top three.
Finally, in the non-Championship class, Fantic-mounted Vicky Lamb took a narrow win by a single point over Michelle Naufahu – Sherco with Emily Anderson taking the final podium spot.
The final round of the 2012 Women’s and Girls Championship will be hosted by Horsforth & District at Parkwood Offroad on the 16th of September (details here). Becky Cook now has a narrow three point advantage over Emma Bristow in the overall Championship standings so there is still all to fight for between the pair.
