Reigate & Redhill March Club Trial

reigate north downsA good turn out of 33 riders rode the Club trial. Near perfect weather conditions all day helped a lot with the enjoyment had by all.

The water in the stream was quite low, but that didn't stop the water getting dragged up the banks as the day went on. The laying out team managed to put out 8 sections that at some stage just about everyone cleaned but very few managed to keep a low score.

Stuart Read rode exceptionally well to beat his long time rival Scott Dark and in turn win the Expert route on 15.

The Inter route ( white/blue) was contested by more than the usual number of riders, and Eric Clarke just beat Pat Lloyd-Jacob into second place with an excellent ride on his Fantic twin shock.

The Blue route was a great test with any lack of concentration resulting in marks lost. Only one rider from RRND, Rob McKenzie managed to avoid all the hazards and win the route with a fantastic low score of 18. The rest of us could only hope to ride so well. Other notable riders on this route were Grace Dark who has just moved up from Reds and Stuart Hescott also riding stylishly. Well until I asked him if he had any 5's yet - he didn't then but he did after the next section!

Quote of the day goes to Rob Edwards, after failing to climb a very easy bank in section 1. He said " I forgot to open the throttle".

Red route was dominated by Chris Roos on his first outing on his own home made Yamaha twin shock built to take on long distance trials. Second place was Luke Edwards with his brother Ben close behind in 3rd.

Thanks to all who made this such an enjoyable day.
