Llangollen Bring Back Kickstart

On Saturday 28th June the children from Llangollen and District Motorcycle club were invited to show off their trials skills at the local Chirk Carnival.  13 Children attended from ages 4-9 years old and entertained the crowds  with 14 man-made obstacles from see-saws to balance beams, drums, barrels and truck tyres.  Even at this early age the children impressed the crowds of people that came to watch with their balance and co-ordination.

All the people in the crowd quickly referred back to the days when there was a programme on Saturday evening TV that showed children from all over the country competing in trials on similar types of sections.  They could not remember the TV programmes name but they were soon humming the theme tune.  It was great to see so many people with  no connection to motorcycles but used to tune in weekly to watch it on TV.  Kickstart soon travelled through the crowd and the conversation for most people that day was ‘wouldn’t it be good to be on the TV again’.  In recent years youth trials have seen improved numbers so you will never know.

Thanks go to two local businesses - Kronospan of Chirk and AN Richards who donated materials.
