British Championship Showdown Weekend

dibs btc storyJames DabillThe UK trials world heads to Devon this weekend for the final two rounds of the RT Keedwell sponsored British Championships. To finish the season off the double header starts on Saturday with the Anthony Rew Trial at Lustleigh not far from Bovey Tracey which is 20 minutes south of Exeter. The venue Saturday is Kelly Farm Postcode TQ13 9SW.

Sunday sees the riders move on to The Rene Pearce Memorial Trial at Brousenter Farm, Peter Tavy, Tavistock , postcode PL19 9NA Both events will start at 9.30 am when the Expert groups will be first away.

What is likely to be the outcome in the series with no less than 20 points on offer to the winners each day? The Expert class is fairly easy to call with Guy Kendrew out in front by such a margin that a 13th place on day one would see him Champion. He has posted five wins from five rides so far this season and with him currently leading the S3 series also Guy is having a very successful season. Just behind him however the second and third places on the final podium are up for grabs. James Stones currently holds second place on 62 points with Joel Edwards third just four further back and then it is Tom Affleck next. They are all capable of beating each other so the interest here should remain up until 4pm on Sunday.

The Championship race for the Number 1 plate is close between current holder Michael Brown and James Dabill. Dabill hold a nine point advantage so he is currently favourite to regain his crown but Brown cannot be discounted. Again with the premier class the fight for third is proving to be tight. It is currently Alexz Wigg holding the position but just behind him is Jack Sheppard and Ross Danby.  Alexz has ridden well this year, Jack has been consistent and Ross looked in fine form at the last round in Scotland so it is too close to call. The weather forecast for the area over the coming weekend looks steady so let battle commence.
