Final Round of OSET Cup

trials ukLess than a whisper separated the top three riders at the final round of the OSET Cup North Series this weekend.  Post Hill – an iconic trialling venue - proved the perfect backdrop for an OSET Cup round that saw the top three riders on the elite route separated by just one dab!

Myles Hutchinson took the win from Dominic Horne after riding the furthest clean and George Hemingway was only one dab away from first place being a three-way tie!  Incredible riding from the three youngsters – all of whom will be looking for podium finishes at next year’s British National Championship.

Nige Pearson from Trials UK and sponsors of the final round, said: “There was absolutely nothing to separate the three of them.  It’s incredible to think that over 24 sections it came down to one dab.  Riding competitively week in week out against each other is really pushing the boys and their ability is increasing all the time."

“I’ve seen them all progress from an OSET 12.5 where they are simply encouraged to ride with their feet on the pegs to today, where we put bigger and more complicated obstacles in front of them and they seem to just fly over them!

“The OSET Cups are a great event to get kids started in trials.  One of the benefits of an all-electric trial is the lack of noise, makes it easier to encourage and help children through the sections.  His all makes for a less intimidating environment for kids riding their first trials.”

The OSET Cup welcomed many new riders this year and on Saturday 23 youngsters competed over four routes – beginners for fun, intermediate, hard and elite.

Rider of the day went to four year Jack Owen from Chesterfield for having a go at everything.

The hard route winners, Jasper Fox (E-Class) who took his first OSET Cup win of the season and Jenson Jones (D-Class) are both looking forward to stepping up to ride at National level in 2015.

Clear winner on the intermediate route was Grantham’s, Toby Shaw.

The end of the day saw a packed podium with all the riders leaving with finishers medals and plenty of trophies too!
