Sad news from Yorkshire Centre Secretary Sue Smith earlier today to say that Renee Smith died this morning. Renee was eighty nine and lived in a care home at Denholme. She leaves a daughter, Donna, and son Dane. Renee has observed motorcycle trials in Yorkshire with her friend Margaret Spencer for many years and was active right up to the time of her passing.
Known to all competitors as Renee, by all ages, Mrs Smith officiated at all trials, in all weathers, with Margaret Spence from Club status to national championship events. Her knowledge on the current trials scene was extensive. She knew all the riders, and they knew Renee Smith. A remarkable lady indeed.
