2015 Ilkley Classic Trial

The long established Airedale & Pennine Motor Car Club have taken over the Ilkley Classic Trial this year from the Ilkley Motor Club. The Bradford based car club with its sixty year history of events moves forward to cater for demands of the popular Association of Classic Trials Club national championship event by applying for affiliation to the Auto Cycle Union. It will run under under the new title of the Yorkshire Dales Classic Trial. This car and motorcycle reliability trial attracts entries nationwide. The trial is not a test of speed in any way. Twenty special tests on the sixty mile Yorkshire Dales route test driver skills and car and motorcycle control. Many of the cars will be classic British machines and some extremely valuables vehicles. The motorcycle class will feature solo and sidecar machines. Spectators will be able to examine the cars and motorcycles and watch at the special tests.

The event will be based in Nidderdale at Pateley Bridge and utilise the Show Field and the Auction Mart as the main control centre. The Teacups Café will open from dawn for competitors, officials and spectators.  The sections will be accessible to spectators.  Airedale and Pennine Chairman John Rhodes has attracted sponsorship for the trial from Branch Auto Bodies at Ilkley, CD Grimwood Motor Engineers at Allerton and Barrett Graphics of Bradford. The Grimwood garage brings record holding Martin Grimwood who thrilled sprint followers at Esholt Park and Elvington in the seventies and eighties with his screaming Yamaha machine.
