Manchester 17 MCC Ltd - Charity Tower Trial

manchester17A very pleasing entry of 116 riders turned out for the Manchester 17 MCC Ltd - Charity Tower Trial held at Sutton Communications Tower – Nr. Macclesfield – the most windswept spot in all Cheshire!! Toby Eyre and his colleagues set up a challenging course of 15 sections of 3 laps for the hard and middle route with 4 lapsof 11 sections for the easier route that missed out some of the harder sections which you had to get through to reach the next sections.

Clear winner was ex schoolboy star Tom Minta from Shropshire who dominated the hard route losing only 6 marks, an exceptional ride with 2nd place going to Corey Dubik on 17 - actually a good ride when you consider that all other scores on this route were over 30 marks lost.

On the Middle route again there was a clear winner – local man Andy Hipwell who obviously is a lot better at riding the sections than walking them. With a hip [So not so Hip-well] replacement looming - his old man walking - hid his ability when riding. 2nd on the middle route was Richard Allen on a DOT – a fantastic ride on what would seem a most unsuitable machine for modern Trials.

On the easy route it was Ashley Wall on 6 just piping Nick Stott on 7. Nick was ahead for the whole trial but dropped 6 of his marks on the last section whereas Ashley cleaned it every lap with ease – it's never over until it's over!
