Bon Accord MCC hosted the 5th round of the Baxi Boilers sponsored Scottish Pre 65 and Twinshock Championship at Bellwanders Woods in Stonehaven on Sunday 31st July. After weeks of heavy showers around the North East the trial was kept in the burn as the clay bankings would have become unrideable. The burn took a few marks but nothing horrific and the sections rode very well. Unfortunately the round clashed with the KIA so we lost out on a few entries but 37 riders turned out for the day. Sadly the Aircooled Monoshock class had no riders on either route.
In the Red Championship Route Jim Tennant on a TLR Honda took the win in the Twinshock class dropping his single mark on section 7. Roger Summers finished second on 4 marks and Bon Accord rider Ross MacKay on 9. The Pre 65 route was a good fight between the well-travelled Michael Anderson jnr and James Morton. Both clean on the first two laps Michael kept his cool to clean lap 3, James dropping his 5 late on in the day. Murray Whittaker, hosting the trial in his back garden, was third on 6 marks.
In the Blue Championship Route Graham Law on 9 markes was the best of the class ahead of the Jamie MacFarlane on 14 with Derek Ramsay third on 16. Ian McAnespie riding a Roy Mitchell prepared BSA Bantam won the Pre 65 class on 16 with Michael Anderson Snr on 36.
In the Support class, former Scottish Champion Billy Matthews cleaned the entire trial looking very composed as he rode round. Jamie McFarlane followed in second with 7 and Alan Mercer on 8 right behind him. Malcolm Summers was the only rider in the Schoolpersons A class, David Smith was best in the beginners class well ahead of local Stonehaven man Andrew Hutcheon, who was riding his first ever trial.
Scottish riders are reminded that the last round of the series will bring both the Scottish Championship and the KIA Championship together at Newcastleton. Points for the Scottish Championship will be awarded on the B ROUTE only
