Gas Gas UK At British Double Header Weekend

BTC action filled both days of the weekend for the JST GGUK Team this weekend with great results from the Team overall. It was the Hookwood Trial Centre event on Saturday which is a great venue and The Witley & DMC clubs Weston Trophy Trial at Buster Limeworks on Sunday which is a tricky chalky venue. Both clubs did a great job with the sections given the weather, conditions and no stop rules.

Expert Rider Tom Minta had an excellent weekend winning both days in the Expert Class beating his GG Team mate Dan Thorpe in to second place both days. These two are now both tied on overall  Championship points with 4 rounds still to go. This one will definitely go down to the last day at the Bob McGregor BTC in October. Cloburn GG rider Chris Alford was 10th Saturday and 13th Sunday, podium soon.

New Youth 125 World Champ Jack Peace won the Youth A Class easily both days and sprayed the fizz with ease on the podium yesterday afternoon J. Jack now has a 29 points lead and will have to ride all rounds on his 125 until he is hopefully crowned A Class Champion in Scotland. Jack has also just taken delivery of a new 2017 TXT250RACING for playing on which he intends to ride at the final round of the WTC in Italy September 3rd/4th in the Trial2 Class.

In the main Championship Class the best GG rider again was new Trial2 World Champion Jack Price. Jack was excellent both days riding with same confidence as he has done all year. His recent world title has not changed him one bit and he went about his riding in the same relaxed way as he has all year. No arrogance from this young lad, just confidence. He was excellent on Saturday with only a few mistakes for an easy second place behind Master Dabill. Jack was not happy with his 3rd place yesterday. Because yesterdays venue was quite easy, every mark / mistake counted and Jack fived section 10 twice which spoilt his now ‘normal’ second place. Jack is now second in the championship just 3 points ahead of Jack Sheppard.

Cloburn JSTGGUK rider Dan Peace was next best GG rider with a strong 4th on Saturday on his 18th birthday! He then finished 7th on Sunday after a wild Saturday night celebrating his Birthday J.

Dan is now 5th in the Championship hunting his mentor Michael Brown down who is 5 points in front.

My buddy Michael Brown was 7th on Saturday and 8th on Sunday. Not the results he/we want but I’m happy because he rode with a smile all weekend. He looked to be enjoying his riding and not trying too hard. At the end of the day the riders should be ‘enjoying’ their sport!

JSTGGUK long serving riders Alexz Wigg and Sam Haslam didn’t really shine all weekend. Both working full time now, lack of bike time showed. However both riders tried their best and Alexz was good Saturday and deserved better than his 8th place which was only 6 marks off the podium. Alexz was 8th on Saturday and 11th on Sunday. Sam was 9th on Saturday and 13th on Sunday. Alexz and Sam are now 8th and 9th respectively in the Championship.
