Double Wins For Emma Bristow In Ladies Championship

emma bristow brit ladies round 7 storyWith their male counterparts taking a break following their double battle last weekend, it was Britain’s finest female Trials riders who were out in force this weekend with two days of competition in rounds six and seven of the Acklams Beta sponsored British Ladies and Girls Trials Championship, hosted by North East Centre ACU at their Hope Farm venue near Longframlington.

In the Premier Championship Class it was, perhaps unsurprisingly, Emma Bristow – Sherco who took top honours on both days of competition, but main challenger Becky Cook - TRS did not make it easy for her on the low scoring opening day. Both competitors finished the day on single digit scores, but a clean second lap and just two dabs over the remainder of the Trial was to give Bristow the win by a four mark margin.  Scorpa’s Jess Bown was to complete the podium line-up taking third, some way back from the leading twosome.

Day two amongst the top girls was a different story on a course considerably harder than the preceding day. With already one victory under her belt, a confident Bristow got off to the perfect start with a totally clean ride on her opening visit to the twelve sections. It was a different story for Cook however as she opened the day with her worst lap score, dropping nine over the opening circuit. Although Becky did improve over her remaining two laps and Emma was unable to repeat her opening lap performance, the nine mark deficit position it was to prove impossible to recover from. Bristow took the second day win by a margin of thirteen marks over Cook with Jess Bown once again completing the podium line-up.

In the Championship A Class, it was all change over the two days of competition with Gabby Whitham – Beta taking top honours on the opening day (no doubt down to the expert minding skills of Milky!) by a narrow single mark margin over Megan Savage – Gas Gas with Alicia Robinson – Beta taking third. Day two, however saw Savage bounce back to claim victory by five marks over Robinson who improved on her first day placing with Whitham unable to repeat her performance having to settle for third.

There were changes in the highly competitive Ladies Intermediate Class over the two days too. Day one saw Beth Dunning – Beta occupy the top spot thanks to a single mark victory over Catherine Alford – Gas Gas with Jennifer Stephen -  Gas Gas taking third place, though Alford was to relegate Dunning to second place on Sunday when she came back to take the win by a five mark margin. Third place on day two went to Charlotte Kimber – Beta who greatly improved on her sixth place finish from the opening day.

Over in the Girls B Championship Class, it was series leader, Alice Minta – Beta who took charge on the opening day, taking the win by two marks over Ella Doherty – Beta with Hannah Moore making the long journey from the south of England worthwhile by claiming the remaining podium place. As in the Ladies Intermediate Class it was a swap at the top on the second day of competition with Doherty squeezing victory by just a single dab over Minta and Moore once again claiming third place.

Closest competition in all the classes was reserved for the youngsters in the C Class with both Daisy Parsons – Beta and Katlyn Adshead completing their first day on five marks apiece and Parsons prevailing in the ensuing tie-break. Third place on the opening day was occupied by Amelia Mayhew – Beta. Perhaps somewhat miffed at losing out on Saturday’s tie-break, it was young Katlyn who came out fighting on Sunday, riding the entire day clean to take the win with Daisy relegated to second spot. Amelia repeated her opening day performance to claim third place on day two also.
