Stafford Auto Boxing Day Trial

Not long now until xmas day - but bugger that, the important one is the day after which means Stafford Auto boxing day trial. So ditch the relatives for a day (or bring them with you if you get on with them...) leave the turkey leftovers in the firidge and throw your bikes in the van and get yourselves to Milwich for what will probably be the usual festive mudfest.

The usual three routes, easy, medium, hard with a 50/50 between hard and medium, although there are few takers for the 50/50 these days. Naaturally, everyone is still going to be half tanked, have waists like Mr Creosote courtesy of xmas dinner over indulgence and be wobbling like weebles on a wobble board so I'll try and ensure that the sections aren't too difficult so you don't struggle too much. But, as the sections will probably be set a week before the event the weather may have a say in that...

After the trial you can retire to the Green Man pub in the village and lament how you should have cleaned this or that section, if only you hadn't ridden like a pillock, whilst enjoying a face full of the free buffet that will be provided. Normally there is a raffle in the pub with proceeds going to the air ambulance fund (as do the proceeds from the trial) but this year I don't have the time to organise the raffle. Instead, the landlady at the Green Man will have a bucket or suchlike on the bar for donations, so if you could contribute a quid or two it will be greatly appreciated. You never know when you may need them and, given the two lovely lady pilots who flew it in when it was called to the BMCA trial a couple of months ago, it's almost worth hurting yourself for...

So let's be having you, Boxing Day trial, Milwich – you know it makes sense
