Start up time for the Classic and Trail boys

With the advent of March and hopefully with it an improvement in the weather, comes news of the opening rounds of the ACU Classic Trials Championship (formerly the Sammy Miller series) and the ACU Trail bike Championship.

The Classic series first round is on Sunday, March 5 and will be organised by the ever enthusiastic West of England club down in Devon over one of their regular sporting courses, whilst the first round of the Trail Bike series is organised by the West Gloucester and Dean Forest Club who promote the well-known Wyegate Trial as their first round on Sunday March 12.

West of England’s Classic Trial called the Dartmoor Trial, starts from Rippon Tor Firing Range near Ashburton and will be held over a 20 mile course with 25-30 sections planned. This year’s Classic series has 12 separate classes which cover just about every conceivable category of Classic machine with the event featuring three routes through the sections.

It will be an 80 mile route for the Wyegate Trial on March 12 for the trail bike guys starting from Orepool Inn, Sling, Coleford, Glos and both West of England and West Gloucester are expecting full house entries for their events.

Both trials can be entered via www.acu.org.uk where regulations, entry forms and on-line entries are available.
