Kia National Twinshock Trials Championship

Having travelled North,South and East in the four rounds run to date, the KIA circus approaches its half way point by heading West to South Wales for the next round on 18th June.

The upcoming round is in glorious rugged natural trials terrain near Haverfordwest, Round 5 has all the hallmarks of what the series is about. Rocky stream beds abound which don’t require a sea of marking flags, whilst the host club is spoilt for choice with wooded cambers and steep climbs.

One of the main attractions of the series is the variety of terrain, Round 1 at Congleton having mud (lots of it!) and cambers , Round 2 at Consett was full of solid but dry rockery, Round 3 at Northampton being typical South Midland Centre climbs and drops whilst Round 4 at Scunthorpe was an escarpment full of twists and turn. This variety is one of the reasons this series is so well supported, it doesn't matter which sort of terrain you love or hate, you're bound to experience some of everything throughout the 9 rounds.

Talking of change and variety, we are certain to have some new class winners by the end of 2017. Dave Younghusband, the 2016 Historic Spanish class winner is taking a year out. Fellow North East based 2016 Air Cooled Mono winners, the father and son 'team' of Colin Ward and Colin Ward Jr. are riding selected rounds only and Gary Hawkins has switched to the Pre 72 class this year. Current provisional standings are in an attachment at the end of this update.

In eligibility matters this year there have been few problems. A 305 Fantic fitted with 38mm forks was excluded from the Consett results, whilst a 250 GasGas with 38 mm forks fell foul of eagle eyes at Congleton. As there is no formal machine examination, it is up to individual riders to ensure their machines meet the relevant criteria, Fellow riders also keep an eye open for abuse. Full details of eligibility are on the website.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the website for all coming rounds. As the next round is only three weeks away.and places are limited, it would be a good idea to get your entries in as soon as possible for what is sure to be a worthy addition to a very popular series. See you there!
