Kia National Twinshock Championship Round 5

The fifth round of the 2017 KIA Twinshock Championship visited the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast last weekend. This was the first visit of the championship to the area, and the host club, Vale of Towy MCC laid out a varied course at Brawdy Quarry, less than a mile from New Gale Beach.

The standout ride of the day in the Experts class was from David Carter, the local favourite, competing in the series for the first time this year. He took first place in the Aircooled Mono class losing only 2 marks on the first lap and going clean on the second lap, Another local rider Eirian Davies, helped himself to a class win, dropping only 4 marks in the process.

In the Aircooled Mono Clubman class with Keith Normington edged out Paul Hobson. Both finished on 11 marks lost with Keith having 33 cleans to Paul’s 31.

The Twinshock Experts class was won by Wayne Jones (Fantic 240) who lost only 4 marks to take the win from championship leader Richard Allen.Triumph Cub mounted Nigel Scott had a very creditable score of 9 marks on the Britshock Experts route , whilst Keith Wells won on his BSA Bantam 175, losing 4 marks on the Britshock Clubman’s course.

Jim Waters, one of the youngest competitors, made the long trip from Lincolnshire worthwhile winning his class for the second trial in succession, losing only 4 marks in the process.

Thanks are due to all those at the Vale of Towy club for organising such a successful trial at an excellent venue,and to all the officials, observers and to anyone else who helped in any way in staging this event.
