2011 FIM Women's Trial World Championship

Twenty-year old Emma Bristow – Ossa will arrive in the small town of Tanvald, Czech Republic this weekend looking to recreate the kind of performance that recently saw her claim second place at the opening round of the 2011 FIM Women's Trial World Championship. With only one week separating the first two rounds of the three leg series, the Ossa teamster will be keen to reinforce her current runners-up spot in the general standings.

Situated in the north of the country, close to the Polish border, Tanvald may only have a population of barely six thousand, but this is not the first time the settlement has hosted a major Trial event. Back in 2009 the area held a round of the UEM European Youth and Women's championship in which Emma competed.

Since joining the Spanish manufacturer Ossa at the start of the season Bristow has enjoyed a number of impressive results. After a lengthy battle in the British domestic series with compatriot Rebekah Cook – Sherco, Emma finished with a much-deserved second in the general standings, missing out on the top spot by only three points.

She has also already seen success in the 2011 UEM European Trial Championship, recording third and second at the opening two legs of the contest respectively. Add to this the fact that she led the women's class of the 2011 Scottish Six Days Trial from start to finish and it is fair to say that Bristow is enjoying one of the most successful seasons of her career to date.

First joining the FIM Women's Trial World championship in 2006, Emma has steadily made her way up the ranks. Initially finishing thirteenth in her debut year, the youngster from Lincolnshire, Great Britain claimed a much-deserved fourth in the series standings at the end of last season.

Now firmly established as one of the best female Trial riders in the World championship, Emma feels ready to break into the top three in the overall standings. "My target this year is to get onto the podium at every round of the series. Obviously winning the championship is my ultimate career goal, though second in the championship is what I'm aiming for this year."

"I've ridden at Tanvald before, but to be honest I don't really remember it well and my result wasn't anything special. Obviously I'm pleased with how I rode at the first round in Germany, and I'll be looking to do the same again this weekend."

"I have spent a fair amount of time training to make sure I'm as fit as possible before each round. Mostly I go out on my bike to practice, but every so often I go for a run or on my push bike just to change things around a bit."

"I really should have won the ACU British Women's Trial Championship earlier in the year. I only just missed out to Becky, but I won three out of the seven rounds so I'm happy with my riding and have proved that I have what it takes to beat her."
