Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) won with absolute superiority in the Strasbourg Indoor Trial, first event of the X-Trial World Championship, an event in which the Montesa rider defended the title he has won for the last five years.
Bou dominated the three phases of the Alsatian event, ending the qualifying lap with no penalization and maintaining his account at zero after the four zones and the parallel race in the semi-final. With ten points advantage over the other three finalists, the pluriworld champion was the star of a new performance in the definitive moments of the Strasbourg Indoor event, penalizing only one point in the parallel race against Takahisa Fujinami, his teammate, and another for excess of time on finishing the second individual zone, inaccessible for the rest of the finalists.
Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) finished fourth, just one point away from the second position, having lost the third place due to his result in the qualifying lap (sixth, with 11 points), which determines the outcome in case of a draw in the final number of points.
Toni Bou: "It's been a perfect night for me, something not easily repeated. The zones were very technical and I got through them more successfully than my rivals. It's been the best way to begin this new season and a very important victory in the defence of the title".
Takahisa Fujinami: "I felt at ease from the first moment. I prepared myself during the preseason with the indoor events in mind and I arrived here with quite a lot of confidence. I almost got to the podium and I think it's positive to begin the championship in this manner".
