Peace Reigns In Shropshire

Ztc 1560Dan PeaceAlongside playing host to the second round of the 2014 Luscombe Suzuki Leeds ACU British Ladies Championship, South Shropshire MCC had a busy weekend with the second round of the British Youth A&B Championship also taking part on the same course as their female counterparts at their Gaerstone Farm venue in the Shropshire hills.

In the Youth A Championship, competition was tight between Dan Peace - JST Gas Gas and Tom Hooper - MRS Sherco with the two battling it out throughout the three laps of twelve sections. It was Peace who took the early advantage with a first lap score of just four points after Hooper, who would have been leading otherwise, picked up a maximum five penalty in the twelfth section.

With a three point advantage going into the second lap, Peace ran clean until the twelth section (the boys actual sixth section on each lap as they started at section six) where he made the same mistake as his rival did in the first lap, picking up a maximum five, despite having cleaned it on his first visit. There were to be no similar mistakes on that section for Hooper though. He cleaned it to end his second vist on a lap score of two to the five dropped by Peace, putting the youngsters tied on nine points apiece with one lap remaining.

Steady riding from Peace in this final part of the day was to prove decisive with him running clean until, again, the twelft section proved too tough and another five was picked up. Hooper, on the other hand, also picked up a score of five points for the lap, but all for single dabs. With the pair tied on fourteen points each at the close of play, these dabs were to prove fatal to Hooper with Peace taking victory having scored thirty one cleans to Hooper's twenty six. Thomas Minta took third place in the A Championship to claim the final podium position.

Over in the B Championship, it was a low scoring event for the top riders with Sam Yeomans - JST Gas Gas dropping just two points over the entire day. Sam Johnston - Acklams Beta was in top spot after the first lap of the day, but with Yeomans on form, his subsequent score of five points over the latter stages of the competition meant he had to settle for second place. Toby Martin - RCM Beta completed the podium line-up in the B Championship after a five on the tenth section on his first lap spoiled an otherwise near perfect day.

UPDATED 15/4 - The attached results have been revised after a rider was found to be missing from the Youth B Class classifications. The Club apologise for this ommission and any inconvenience caused.
