    M159 Bing 84 Carb

I'm afraid not, it seems these Buls are few and far between here on the island. there is still the m80 in cobble hill I may go look at. He is asking $1250 the way it sits or $800 with all the goodies taken off of it. Which I would have to buy anyway so I would be right back at $1250 or more. I would really like to get a later model 350 like your 159. I would go for a m80 if it was the right deal though, to me $1250 seems high. I may go look at it and ask him if he would take $800 the way it sits. I may consider a different make /model if a good deal comes up . Maybe a yamaha ty250, honda tl250, montassa cota 247/348/349. I missed a kawasaki kt250 a while back on used vic it was $150 and advertised all of an hour! By the time I emailed the guy it was gone. I really want a bultaco if I can find one though. It seems that there are three of use looking for them on the island. Some guy up in parksville, you and myself. I guess I'll just have to be patient. Your 159 looks like its really coming together. Is your m80 done?

    Tire Choices

I'm a little confused when it comes to tires. Are the tires all radials or are some bias ply? what are the advantages of the radial? Are the radials stickier than bias? can you compete competitivley on a bias ply? can you run a tubeless tire with a tube installed on a twin shocker? Also have any of you guys tried the Mitas brand tires? Sorry for all the questions .I have been out of trials for awhile and am looking to get back into it. Cheers ,Fergie
  4. As far as I know yamaha did not produce ty 250's in 75. 74,76 ,77,78 only.

    Air Box On M-80

I believe the filter is a flat piece of foam that is held in by a flat wire frame on top. I'm not 100% sure but I think this is the one you want avaliable at bultaco.com and maybe speedandsport
  7. BultacoSteve, could you explain the difference between primary and secondary compression? I have never heard the terms primary and secondary used to describe compression. Crankcase vs. cylinder perhaps? Also will a leak down test be the best method for testing or a regular compression tester? Thanks, Fergie.
  8. model 80 campeon sherpa t 250. I believe 1971
  9. Looking good Sunny. Are you planning to use the bike in competition or just for weekend fun? The VMC holds trials events with a twin shock class. they are really fun and a good way to hone the skills . There are a few guys that regularly ride these events that are pretty tidy riders so winning is pretty tough (at least it was for me) but its still good fun. either way this should be a fun bike. good luck with the rest of your build, Fergie.
  10. I think the photo he gave me is an older one. The tire has probably been replaced. I just got another email from him and he said he would lower the price if he takes all the new goodies off (tire and nice rim,new bars ect.) and swap them with the bike he is keeping. So he's going to put a bunch of worn out parts on that will have to be replaced right away and I'll be right back @ $1250.00! Glenn, I have heard that good radial trials tires in Canada go for about $200.00+ !!! Fergie.
  11. thanks for the info. and it is a true honour chatting with THE Harvey Mushman lol
  12. Are the 350 models 350cc or 325cc? also how much more power do the 350's have? I have heard the 250's were around 20hp? I need all the power I can get to haul my flabby 215lbs. ass around.
  13. Thanks for the lead Matt. a little too far for me though. A guy just emailed me with a 69 m49. great shape $1400. a little too old for me but maybe worth considering. I want to use it for the local twin shock class so a 69 might not be very competative. also I kinda want a project bike . it will probably cost me more in the end but the knowledge of the bike and the satisfaction that you revived it yourself would be very satisfying to me.
  14. From what I've seen the bikes in Europe go for alot more than over here. I think its over priced for Canada but i'm used to Yamaha ty prices. The guy is not returning my emails anyway so my initial suggestion of what the bike is worth must have p****d him off. oh well cheers, fergie.
  15. Great info. I didn't realize that they used a different material for the frames in in 74. Something else to consider when buying. Thanks, Steve. By the way did you get my P.M.? I'm still interested in your 151, are you coming to the island anytime soon?also what are you asking for it? and do you have any pics? Jeffandsharlene@shaw.ca
  16. Thanks steve I'm trying to learn all I can about the sherpa's before I pick one up. Is there a FAQ page around the net for these bikes?
  17. As much as I can apreciate a completly restored mint bike. They are meant to be riden. besides after the first scape/scratch it wont bother you as much!
  18. What year (if any) did Bultaco go to primary kickstarter?
  19. Are the crank seals able to be replaced without splitting the cases on these bikes?
  20. Thats what I told him and he got very p****d off. He now tells me its got a new $260 tire ,new brake cable, and new tomesseli bars. and runs beautiful. cosmetically I think it looks poor but I have not seen the bike in person. its about a 40 miniut drive away. unless he comes down in price I think I'll pass. being a 72 would this bike be a 250 or 350? also what model is this?
  21. He sais it runs well and is in great shape. he is asking $1250 Canadian dollars . Do you think this is fair?
  22. Absolutly gorgeous bike, congrats. now go get it dirty!
  23. Sunny, if you need welding done in Victoria contact Dave Fair http://www.gasgaspacific.com/. He is an amazing welder specializing in aluminum. I am a welder also but am not set up for aluminum welding. Anything aluminum is best sent to Dave. He is also the local Gas gas dealer. If you need any mild steel welded I would be happy to do it for you at no cost. Any updates on your projects. Cheers, Fergie.
