  1. Hi its always nice to be right ! Before you put it back together make sure you remove any burrs from inside the flywheel and from the taper on the shaft. Try fitting the flwheel on the shaft with out the key just to make sure it fits snug. TLTEL
  2. Sensible answer! Float valve is not shutting off, could be grit in valve or float is split or hieght needs adjusting. strip it down again, put your mouth over the nozzle whilst lightly feeling underneath with your finger, suck and blow and you should feel resistance. good luck! TLTEL

    Tlr250 Clutch Case

I think the finger operates the auto decompresser, in which case the bit that sticks out (technical term) must engage with the finger. I will try to have a look at my manual tomorrow, its a few years since I took mine apart. TLTEL
  4. It shouldnt really shear that easy, but maybe if the flywheel wasnt as tight as it should be and then you reving it, it could have sheared. I had one shear on a road bike once, when I took the cover off, the flywheel nut was only finger tight. (not touched from new) The key is only there to locate, its not meant to take any strain. Might be worth checking the reeds! Hope you get it sorted. TLTEL
  5. HI If its been sat around in a shed for a year, you will have to get rid of the fuel thats in the tank and clean out the carb. put fresh petrol mix in and it will probably be fine. TLTEL
  6. woodruff key could have sheared, so timing has gone out. TLTEL
  7. Well ! Is it back together yet? TLTEL
  8. yes! Screw, spring, washer, the more you unscrew it the more fuel you get to the primary circuit. if you strip the carb down you can see what it does. Start at about three turns out and go from there. Not saying that this will cure your problem but when you are adjusting, it helps to know what is actually happening when you turn the screw. I would still do the stator side crank seal, as long as you have a flywheel puller this is a very simple cheap job to do.(as you said earlier) TLTEL
  9. Hi do you still have the standaed TLR kickstarter on the bike, complete with the stop arm fixed by the rear brake lever? TLTEL
  10. Bought mine from them about 5 years ago. still ok. TLTEL

    Pink Oil

Or its ATF in the engine! TLTEL.
  12. Hi, Just a comment, If you have the same dellorto carb as the earlier models then the mixture adjustment screw is a fuel adjuster and not an air screw. TLTEL
  13. Hi MCE insurance advertise in TMX "theft insurance for your off road bike" give them a try. Also you could try MSM they do off road bikes. TLTEL
  14. Hi I am not sure of the actual regs but I think a 9 year old can only ride up to 80cc if you are going to enter competion, bike size permitted is age related, so check if you are thinking of a 125 TLTEL
  15. Hi I live in Folkestone and joined Folkestone club, about three years ago, I found all the local clubs to be really friendly and you soon find some one to ride with. once you have got your licence you can ride pretty much all the events locally anyway. As already said the begginners and woblers is a good place to start, no pressure just ride the sections. Hookwoods is brilliant, bit of a trek to get to though. Good luck TLTEL

    Base Gasket

you don't need to take the head off, you can take the cylinder off with head still attached. sounds like its too late for that. I did this last weekend to my gas gas, left the head on, took barrel off complete, , cleaned up the piston, new thicker base gasket,(two actually)took about an hour. Cured the pinking/pinging TLTEL
  17. Hi you shouldnt need to split the cases to change the seals, if that is what you need to do. In my experience it is usualy the fly wheel side seal that suffers the most because it is running dry on one side(this should make it run weak if it fails). Easy to change once fly wheel is removed. You can carefully insert two small self tapping screws into seal and then pull seal out whithout damaging the case. oil up and pop new seal in.The other side should be the same but you will have to remove the clutch and water pump gear to get to it. before you do all that I would make sure the exhaust is clear as it could be full of gunk that is burning, clean air filter and make sure you are using the recomended 2t mix for that bike. Is it using gearbox oil? You didnt say if this is a new problem or have you just bought the bike with this problem. TLTEL
  18. You need to raise the clip a notch to make it leaner! TLTEL

  21. could be crank seals, or have you checked water level in cooling system, it could be drawing water through head seals. how did this start, or rather not start, did it stop whilst riding or just refuse to start one day? Is it very old fuel? Just thinking out loud really! TLTEL
  22. Hi I have changed one on my sons 94 contact, I didnt have to remove swing arm. It is tight and it depends on weather you have the straight swing arm or the one that curves around the master cylinder. I think you should gain a bit more room if you take out the top bolt from the shock and let the swing arm hang down a bit. Good luck TLTEL
  23. Hi Just a thought, If your bleed nipple is loose in the thread, you can draw air in to the system as you push in the fluid. (assuming you are using a syringe and tube) I have in the past has to put a small amount of PTFE tape around the nipple thread, Blead system then remove tape and tighten up, it really should not be that hard.
