  1. So i would be better off trying to find race fuel in other words
  2. Ok so what if i want to switch to running av gas. what are its benefits. I just looked at the price for it here and i can get it for 4 bucks a gal. would this be better than running unleaded?

Im not having any of those issues with my techno. Its running like it was new. I just had no idea what they were and thanks to all your help i now am more knowledgeable about them however i will keep that in mind for future maintenance.

I have not had to dig that far into the engine of my bike as of yet but thanks for all the info on the subject guys
  5. That was very entertaining and some really good riding

Ok that makes sense. So how old are you talking about? Would a 94 techno have reeds or not?
  7. I have never cared for the idea of ethanol. In my opinion its a waste of time and its not a efficient fuel source even when mixed at least the last time i checked. There is so much of a better use for corn. On a side note - I run regular unleaded fuel and mix my own 2stroke oil into it at the pump. Just what types of fuels is ethanol getting blended into? Should I switch and start running a higher octane?

I have been seeing lots of talk here in the forums about Reeds. What are they? What do they do? Can any one enlighten me on them.
  9. I use WD-40 to lube the chains on my bikes and i have never had a problem. My techno has been lubed all its life with wd-40 since it was new and its still using the same chain which is 15 years old just now being ready to be replaced. go for it
  10. Thanks for the info. Ill check that out
  11. You guys are not the only ones. Its my philosophy every once in awhile still except i dont have scars. Yet that is.
  12. That was absolutely brilliant. That is the most amazing bike motor i have seen yet. Can i put that in my Trials bike??
  13. Agreed the backing up rule is always a hard one to judge. One instance i see all the time in my club is at the pro level. Alot of the time our pro riders like to hop to get them selves into a better position for the next part of the section. When they do this however i can visibly see the bike beginning to move backwards usually no more than most of a quarter wheel turn distance but still. Can be hard to judge. I still think the rule applies even when you have a hole or a gap in the way. Part of trials is being clever about getting out of messes.
  14. I just go out and ride and ride and ride. My best practice is just ride different sections in different ways in different traction abilities within my class and above. I go out and practice individual techniques related to my class and classes above which. After each event i ride i think back to where i was strong and where i need improvement and i work on those areas of improvement. Most of all i ride for fun and thats the best practice of all
  15. depending on how screwed the threads are you should be able to re tap them with not even having to drill them out. Im a machinist and i work with aluminum all the time as well as various other metals. Its very easy to fix threads without having to drill. If you try to drill them you have to be very careful and remain square with the original hole. Drill press of mill is the easiest way of staying strait. I would attempt to retap them first before you drill them and only do so if you have to. Also make sure when you tap them that you are taping into the original threads. you can very easily cross thread with a tap.
  16. Hey it could be worse i could be driving my CJ-7 Jeep rock crawler that gets about 4 to the gallon on a good day thanks to a 350 bigblock chevy and a high performance Holley 4-Barrel carb with mechanical secondaries. Then again a buggatti veyron measures its fuel consumption in gallons per min and can run out of fuel in 12 mins at 252 mph. I dont have one of those sady. Thats not too bad for that size of truck zippy
  17. Its really amazing to see how far the sport has come especially when you look at all the aspects that have evolved from the bike to the sections to the rules from then to today
  18. I like the rule of a rotation not counting as a point. If you think about it as long as you rotate without sliding to gain a advantage in the section it should not cost any points at all. At this years NATC round in Colorado that is how we judged that portion of the dab. I see it as it making it alot harder for the rider to use the dab effectively when they take one whether its by choice or not.
  19. Hey guys im looking to get myself and my fiance into bike trials as part of assisted training for more practice and just to have some fun. Where is a good place to start? where can i look to get a bike here in the states (Colorado for that manner). Any info on where to buy a bike and some learning material would be great.
  20. The exposure is changing about the sport. The more i go out and ride with my fiance we run into the occasional rider who has seen the sport on youtube like the one we ran into today or we will get people who are driving by and see an event that is in progress and stop by to watch and ask questions. I had a time where i took my fiance up to a place called Texas Creek in Colorado and when we left i had a park ranger stop to ask about the sport for a min. Slowly the sport is growing in all sorts of ways.
  21. You can do so much more with a real truck. I can get three bikes comfortably into the bed of both my chevys with plenty of room inside for when we travel to events
  22. I spent the money on the first of Ryan Young's trials training dvds and its definately worth the investment. I bought it for not only myself but my fiance who wants to learn how to ride trials. She really benefited from the info
  23. Eh usually it takes a heavy duty bulldozer or large crane can usually do the trick or my Kubota tractor every once in a while. Chris yes actuall i can do all those things except i dont drink beer. im not old enough to. Mountain Dew and Pepsi in pints hell yeah. Though it does teach you a whole new dynamic of balancing whilst looking at the ceiling.
