  1. Not sure if this is any use but my Rev 3 the fan comes on usually by the end of the first section and will stay on most of the day, my Rev 4 the fan cuts in and out on a regular basis and you can really tell when it cuts in by the amount of hot air blasting out, neither over heat or do anything odd, only the rider does odd things lol
  2. On my, new to me, REV 4 starting isn't the easiest and I've found the following things - From cold is sometimes doesn't need choke, sometimes does, if choke on then no throttle, if no choke, likes a small throttle opening and slow progressive kick When its hot it generally prefers a little bit of throttle opening (as opposed to what I've read which is no throttle at all), but if it doesn't catch after the first couple of kicks then usually its a case of no throttle. Haven't tried the hot start button, cause I keep buring my hands Carb has been cleaned and the correct std 127.5 main jet put back in, didn't change the pilot jet as they didn't have any and can't read the numbers on it at present, air screw is 3 turns out, new air filter, new spark plug - haven't checked the valves. Once running, ticks over nicely, revs through cleanly and no problems with it - only starting it.Its very different going from a left hand kicker 2 stroke where you need a healthy shove through the kicker to right hand side with a long leisurely stroke (that sounds wrong! lol) Any advice peeps?
  3. Finally bought a rev4 was a little rough but after some spokes repaired a good clean etc it was ready for today's outing the CCMC Centenary trial. Cracking bit of land which I've never ridden on before but really enjoyed it. 4t is a Bit different but on steep loose climbs it found grip where my rev3 would have spun I'm sure, struggled a bit with it a boulder field section until a mate turned the tickover down a touch, totally different bike after that. It might take me a couple of trials to really get to grip with it but ,after today's outing got to say I don't regret buyIng one - well chuffed
  4. give him a ring, his website provider has done the dirty on him and pulled the plug on his site.
  5. Haven trialsport website doesn't seem to be repsonding
  6. Bumpage on the cracked engine mount and weeping head gasket - is this common?
  7. Went to buy one last night - 2008 Rev4 - looked tidy in the pics but it was 1.5hrs drive so chatted witht he guy and found an older guy who'd tried trials but found it too hard so just pottered round his garden so we set off last night, cash in pocket. Nice house and gardens and well looked after (always a good sign in my mind) bike looked clean and tidy, typical beta sticky clutch when you first set off, but ran nicely clean plastics and wheels, bit of frame damage but nothing too bad then I spied a little bit of an oil leak from the head gasket then a large washer behind the bolt head on the top engine mount - engine mount was cracked!! Made him a cheeky offer but walked away, I don't hink the guy knew to be honest and I'm glad I found it before buying but gutted for the fella. Is either of these common problems on the REV 4??
  8. GLoved hand works, I used it on a guys sherco once, he was very gratefull! LANYARD KILL SWITCH - get one, they work :D
  9. 37!!!!!! Mines usually struggling to keep in the 30's
  10. Had a couple of sections on a mont 4 RT on Sunday and noticed straight away how heavy it felt compared to my rev3, liked the engine but tick over was very high so had to clutch in on tight turns, felt very "plush" bars were leant too far back for me so it felt a bit "easy rider" like for me but I did like the motor, try for another go on a rev4 if I can soon.
  11. At the moment 40mpg seems impossible but mine's only got 4000 miles on it, and I do a lot of short journeys in town, but even on a steady motorway run at 75 I'm only getting 35 - 37, mine is the 155hp though. My old Mk7 140hp was better on fuel, regularly 35mpg and 40 on a run. The custom is much much better to drive and use though! Lot of imformation on here http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=65&sid=c56d4de735d9a2d02a4f8a214ec6cf5e Join the forum and put a post up about distance from the back of the rear seats to back door, I'll measure the gap from the back of my bike to the rear doors on sunday, I sit mine with the wheels straight whereas if you turn the wheel it will give you more room. I tried a Vito Sport and Renault Traffic etc before buying mine and it was by far the best of the lot, especially for the price!!
  12. I had a quick ride on one a while ago and it felt a bit - "flat" is the best word I can think of, I'm guessing it takes a bit to get used to how they ride compared to a 2T Got a test ride on Mont on sunday and if another mate is there I might try another go on the Beta, I'd rather have a Beta just to be different and I like my Rev3
  13. Considering changing from my 2004 Rev3 250 to a 4T - just becuase I like the noise really, oh and it'd be easier not mixing fuel Had a search on here last night but can't find many buying advice threads so....... I know the rev3 has hot start issues which can be solved and I've read about kick start issues but anything else to look for??? Are the four strokes like the the 2's and need refreshing after a while, i.e. piston rings etc or is it just setting the valves and general servicing. With a 2T the costs of refreshing are reasonably cheap but I can see a 4T being expensive. The other question is why are they so much cheaper than a Mont 4RT?? is it just the bling factor with the Mont??
  14. Not much room behind mine in a swb custom so I would say you probably need a mwb at least, why not take your bike along to a dealers and see. Be carefull with the drivers door, mind went round past the stops and did £450 damage to it! Cracking van to drive, smooth, quiet, get the limited and it's got everything, heated seats, cruises, dab radio, fuel isn't good though at resent, hoping it improves as mine gets more miles on though.
  15. Just a thought but what holds this in? Haven't tried removing it properly but even with the nut off the back it was held tight, tempted to drill through it and bolt right through as a temp repair until getting some new ones
  16. Cheers for that, need two then
  17. Doing a bit of maintenance on the bike and I noticed a loose fixing on the radiator at the bottom then noticed both bottom fixings are loose? Is it supposed to bolt right through from the front of the rad through the rubber bushing and frame??
  18. Do it!!! I went the wrong way round the flags, fell off, over heated myself, got stuck and packed in on lap 3 on my first trial. I learnt a lot on that one and was more prepared for the next one. Still do most of the above though, it's half the fun of it. Remember you're only really competing against yourself unless your very good.
  19. No problems with the turned tyre today other that the usual inadequacies of the rider, strangely turning the tyre didn't stop me being bloody knackered on the last 5 sections! Enjoyed myself today!
  20. Try ex utilities or railway crew vans, usually long wheel base, high roof transits, they'll have everything you need fitted already and the seats are factory fitted so insurance shouldn't be an issue.
  21. Bikes not registered and I don't ride on the road so no problems there. It was one of those situations where you think you know exactly what you're talking about and then someone who is "in the know" tells you a total opposite and makes you stop what you were going to do. Its getting turned then and with the new improved level of grip I'll obviously win on the next trial
  22. Having changed tyres previously on other bikes, I'd rather pay someone else! I seriously doubt ill be able to tell any difference at all, but every little helps lol
  23. To be fair I can't see that its going to make to my riding either way, but you've got to try these things. Again I can't see that the knobbles have different compounds or degrees of bend on either side but it does have a direction arrow!!
  24. Went to get my back tyre turned this morning and was told its directional and the fitter was adamant I'd get no grip if it was turned as it had a direction arrow on it. Anyone had this before?
  25. What's the torque figure for the centre clutch nut and individual springs?? Fabricated a clutch holder and removed it, not to bad to undo.
