  1. I just sold my 2007 Scorpa SY250F in order to buy a 2008 Beta Rev-4T. It is supposed to arrive tommorow. Can't wait!
  2. With modern full-synthetics, it is common to run 60:1. I have been doing so with my 1974 Cota 247 for years. I know others that have had no problem at 70:1. The one that blows my mind is a riding buddy who runs Amsoil at 100:1, and has for several years now. His 1976 Sherpa T 350cc was restored by a notable Bultaco shop, and they are the ones who instructed him that this oil and mixture was appropriate. I just can't go to that extreme, but have done 70:1 now and then. Point being, you are perfectly safe at 60:1 with a modern fully synthetic oil.
  3. The pegs are WAY too far forward, for any serious trials work. Interesting concept, and the bike looks good. The problem is that the conversion is in the wrong direction. Instead of making a trail bike look like a trials bike, they should be making their true trials bikes more functional as a trail bike. This is an interesting approach: http://www.moto-station.com/article3390-ac...onnee-beta.html
  4. It is all part of that European Union thing!
  5. Drain your tank, and start fresh. A quality, fully synthetic, mixed at 80:1 is what you need. Modern synthetics don't need those heavy ratios.
  6. No capital letters, no punctuation, words run together. I am not having any trouble believing it is Lane! im not lane but i love the fact that you are still talking about this OK, so you get Debbie to type "I'm not Lane" and all is cool. Right?

  8. So what does a scorpa 4t sound like then? Not like a motocrosser! Curious to hear the new ones, with the single outlet exhaust. Hopefully, it doesn't make it louder. The dual outlet exhuast did a good job of minimizing that 4-stroke bark, that many find offensive. At a trial, we used to laugh at how much the Scorpa souded like an old Honda trail bike, coming through the woods, while the Montesa didn't sound like a Honda at all. I still have my 1970 Honda SL-100, and was always amazed at how similar my Scorpa SY250F sounded. Same mechanical cam-chain sound, and all. I have a Beta REV-4T on the way now, so I am anxious to see what it is like. All the input I have received reports it to be the most quiet, of them all, so far.
  9. Only that it makes it obnoxiously loud. No "big difference", or any difference, for that matter, except to the ego of those that like to hear themselves braaap the throttle.
  10. That is the beauty of marking sections with all white tape. Run the sections one direction one day, and then the other direction, the next. Running sections backwards can be REAL interesting, sometimes.
  11. "About 26"? Are you sure it wasn't 27? Getting on and off the throttle is more dramatic, due to engine braking. But, with time you learn to stop riding it like a 2-stroke, and become smoother with it. When you turn the throttle off, you don't have to turn it off as far, or in the same place on the trail, as you do a 2-stroke. If you don't chop the throttle, and instead ease out of it, you actually learn that you can conserve energy, by not having to use your brakes, or clutch, nearly as much.
  12. The average Joe, really doesn't. I have owned both the SY175F (143cc) and the SY250F. There is not nearly the dramatic difference, in power, that you would expect. Once the little engine is wound up, it will pull very strong. The only issue was when there was too little room to wind it up. For example, a full lock turn, right at the base of a hill. If the front wheel was already started up the hill, before you had any room to accelerate, the engine just didn't have enough torque to get that forward motion going. But, you have to know that I weigh almost 230 pounds. An average 170 to 180 pound rider, would find the bike to be pretty amazing. My weight also contributed to the other problem, with the 175, and that is ground clearance, at the front of the skidpan. The engine sump causes the front of the skidpan to be the lowest point. So, dropping off of a ledge, etc. I would end up hitting the skidpan, where as I don't on larger bikes. The little bike is truely amazing, and will do FAR MORE, and performs FAR BETTER, than one would expect. It blew my mind everytime I rode it, that an engine that small would pull me around and up things, the way it did. For the price, there is nothing else out there that can touch it.
  13. Spelling error was my first clue. That was the point everybody seems to have been missing. Lane was not banned from Trials Central. Only his MichLin user name was locked. He was free to create a new account, at any time. Say a new account, with a name like "TheIceMan" or "MalibuDon"!
  14. And that would be another area in which you don't know what you are talking about.
  15. Read the NATC news, and you might be pleasantly surprised. Dallas TX
  16. Given the cost, your Xispa is looking better everyday!
  17. The actual TryalsShop website, to buy the product, is here: http://www.tryalsshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=205
  18. Are you referring to just the cover photo, or are you proposing to copy all the actual pages in the manual?
  19. Makes perfect sense to me, but then I ride with you!
  20. You don't say where you are located. In the US: http://www.trialscomp.com
  21. Whats up with the TY sitting next to it? Never seen a frame like that. Appears that tank is in the backbone. Any info on it?
  22. The U.S. chapter is F.A.R.T. (Fat Assed Riding Team)
  23. I've been running my TY250 T/S on AMSOIL SABER PROFESSIONAL at a mixture of 100-1. As it has been designed to mix at a ratio of 100-1, it dosen't smoke at all and it runs beautifully. I would recommend AMSOIL to anyone. And for those of you who doubt that 100-1 is enough oil for a two stroke then rest assured that I have previously run a 270cc Beta Rev 3 on the same AMSOIL for three years! I've seen it myself. Riding buddy has run his 1976 Sherpa T on 100:1 AMSOIL for the past few years, without problem. I am not that brave. I run my 1974 Cota 247 on 60:1 Motul fully synthetic.
  24. With a helmet, you never want to compromise quality, for price. I have come across the Shiro brand (made in Spain) and find it to be a great balance between price and quality. Don't know the distributor, or price in the UK, but you can pick one of in the US for $162.
