    Come down to Austin this Saturday, for the Summer Series round, and you can see it. Funny thing though... It has a big Montesa emblem on the side of it!

    So... After the long wait, and ongoing speculations, nobody has anything to say now that the bike has been delivered and a few folks have some experience on it?
  6. Typically, Scorpa will have their marketing info out to the distributors by now, but nothing has shown up yet. This may add some credability to the "2-stroke engine in the 4-stroke frame" rumor, that has been popping up here and there.

  9. I had three SY250's in a row, and then switched to the SY175F for last year. You will find that your theory CAN hold true, once you convince your brain that it is true! Learning that you do not have to work the clutch nearly as much on the 4-stroke is a hard lesson to learn. Old habits die hard. While practicing, just leave that clutch finger on the grip, and off the clutch. You will be amazed at how you can just RIDE the bike through the section, using throttle. The engine size being small helps with this a lot, as well. There is torque, but not excessive power that causes the wheel to spin on off cambers, etc. Less use of the front brake is not so noticable, but with the engine decompression (if you learn to leave the clutch alone!) does allow you to make thos quick transitions to a downhill run, without having to get on the front brake so quickly, or so hard. Bottom line, it depends on how well you adapt your riding style to the 4-stroke and stop trying to ride it like a 2-stroke.

  12. Don, The magic you are looking for, to cure the clutch, can be found at B&J Racing. Link: http://www.bjracing.com/SY125.htm On this page, you will see reference to "Clutch Plate Machining". It is not clear, but what you want is Bob's new coumpound disks, in conjunction with the plate machining. When I got mine, it came as a kit with everything included. I rode a SY175F all last year. In competition, the old clutch setup just wouldn't cut it. After the kit was installed, clutch action was fantastic.
  13. After reading carefully, I understand what you are saying. I was envisioning the narrow 4 foot gates, but when the gates happen to be far apart, then there is an imaginary (un-ribboned) boundary between the gates, which is not supposed to be crossed. I could see argument surrounding this "crossing" of the line. The same with crossing your own line. We would always judge it that if any part of either wheel crossed your line, it was a 5. Then, almost from nowhere, it was OK to cross your line with "just" the front wheel. Or was that "just" the back wheel, when hopping? Or maybe it was "either" wheel, as long as it wasn't both? You get the picture.
  14. As our local club works through the different marking rules, the concept of a "gate" being two seperate markers (a left & a right) versus a marker and the ribbon have come up. Is the wording in this document clarifying this issue, one way or another? Is a "gate" made of of two (one left & one right) marker? Or, can the ribbon continue to count as one of the two sides of the gate? As far as the "imaginary" lines, you lost me on that one! There are rules about crossing your own line, but all others (imaginary or real) are up for grabs, as long as you don't pass through another class' gate. Yes? No? Maybe? PS - I think that it is problematic that these online AMA discussions are being spread across multiple forums, and multiple continents.

  20. I have been running the IE7 and MediaPlayer11 beta's since they first arrived, and stepping through each of the updates. They are both great, but I guess I am most impressed with the changes to MediaPlayer. It pulled me back from the grips of iTunes.

    Yep, I am out here and waiting as impatiently as you! As frustrating as it is to wait, I guess I would rather do that them have Scorpa deliver the same steaming pantload that Sherco did, with their 4-stroke. Letting the paying customer be your R&D department is not a good plan, so if Scorpa can work out the issues before they deliver the product, then the wait is probably worthwhile. Mike (US Importer) confirms the July delivery as the latest from the factory, but feels like August is probably a safer bet. I guess the good news is that when they arrive, the bikes will officially be 2007 models, instead of very late 2006's. In addition, Mike has not had any problems with his 250F at all, even with the items that the factory is updating, so it would seem that they are being pretty thorough in fine tuning what they will deliver to us. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

  25. I agree. You should change your oil, with enough frequency, that checking it doesn't come into play. I have always used 600cc in all 3 of mine.
