The problem i have relates to the brake operating arm that the cable fits to on the rear drum/ hub.The arm seems to be touching the rear sprocket, the arm is straight on my 1980 349 montesa but on my friends 1985 montesa 348 it's angled.Have i got the wrong part for this bike . Slim
Hi been lucky lately with bits fitting ok but have a slight clearence issue with chain and rear brake parts there doesn't seem to be enough of a gap, any ideas chaps, Simon
Hi the more i strip my Cota the more i find wrong with the bike, i've got more knackered bits than good bits at the moment. When someone gives you advice about not letting your heart make descisions listen to them it will save a small fortune.I now have to toss a coin wether i carry on or call it a day and break the pile of b####x.
Hi found out a few more interesting faults with my monty over the last week but got the shock of my life when i took the flywheel off to find no woodruff key or condensor so no wonder the bugger woudln't start, so does anyone know where i can get new woodruff keys from.

Hi does anyone have an idea of what carb upgrade i can use on my 349 cota as the standard Amal carb seem to have a bad rap.I have seen an ad for a mikuni carb for a montesa but have no idea of the serial number or part number.
the carb is an Amal item is there an up-grade and what carb do i use. Also there seems tobe a lack of any chain guide or tensioner it sounds like an old moto x er when pushed
Hi does anyone know if the two head stay tubes are vital or is it possible to have a single tube on the engine at one time, also i have a problem with the choke lever on the amal carb it won,t stay open, it works if i hold it open but it's an a*** to kick at the same time.slim
How would i find the differences between a MK1 and a MK2 not had a Montesa before so need some heads up on whats what had TY's and RL250's but european bikes are a mystery to me.
Hi the montesa is a red model i'm hoping it's an 80's bike but will have to check the frame no# and clear it up. I will be on the lookout for a pair of mudgaurds prefer genuine one's but pattern one's would do. I'm just looking for availability of the mudgaurds and other spares at the moment .
