  1. Maybe check this thread mate as there are people there who seemed to have one, maybe you could PM them or email them?? http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....showtopic=25686
  2. I was talking about aftermarket guards that I seen, they dont have the cable loops etc so could be vac formed, indeed the frame guards that I was concentrating on are definately vac formed, thats mainly what I was getting at. As far as injection moulding goes I thinkthat would be a little expensive for me to do on my own so would have to have a prototype made then sub the work out.
  3. I do believe that the mudguards are actually vacuum formed. I am currently working on something myself being a gas gas owner and needing a rear guard its
  4. I heard from my local bike shop, today that the montesa will cease to be made after 2012. He reckons he was told that they have enough parts to make the bikes for the next 2 years and then thats it? Apparently they are just not shifting the units. I never asked about his source but he's not any kind of bull****ter I just thought it strange that I hadnt read it anywhere like TMX first??
  5. Hi mate, I have exactly the same bike as you and you do tend to get conflicting advice, Gas Gas themselves will tell you premix is 80:1 then some people that I trust have said 70:1 the gas gas manual for 09 that I got with mine does indeed say 80:1, I played it safe and went with 70:1 as long as you have got a bit of smoke from your tailpipe when your pottering about it will be fine. Also I do believe it depends on the oil you choose, personally I use Castrol TTS which is a bit lilke p*** (As in thin) where as a mate of mine prefers Putoline for piece of mind as its a lot thicker, a guy I know a bike mechanic said that he used to assemble engines with a bit of putoline coated on parts as its sort of sticky so it was good for that. Always err on the side of caution I'd say, its much cheaper to replace a fouled plug than rebuild your slack top end! As for transmission oil, i use the Castrol QTF which is an automatic transmission fluid (ATF) its in 1 litre bottles and you need 400ml in your bike, so what I do i buy 2 bottles which is
  6. Well ive just fit the slow action throttle today and its way different, to be fair ive only had a quick play outside the house on the street but it already feels pretty much like I remember my friends raga did, although with less power obviously. It just feels completely different like your more in control of what the power is doing. Will have to see properly what its like tomorrow cos I think we are going to Cowm quarry or Witworth quarry or whatever it is everyone calls the place. I've left the Khein carb on for now as it did feel massively different with just the throttle changed so I think its best to have a day on it like it is first then maybe a day with the standard carb on. Anyone have any tips on setting suspension up? I have read about setting the static sag of the rear to approx 1/3 of its travel with rider weight so have adjusted that as best I can as it was a little stiff. I dont know anything about setting supsension up at all really so could do with some pointers for the front. Cheers
  7. Yes I have waht you just said there, i am going to try the delorto carb tomorrow but have also ordered a slow action throttle which has arrived today so im going to fit that first and see how it feels. As for the previous owner being experienced, he wasnt, he told me that himself, to be honest it seemed to me he had more money than sense (not to sound nasty or anything), he's the owner of Fro Systems, Mark. I think he maybe just heard that it was the thing to do to put hte Khein carb on and therefore bought one, or who knows it may have already been on?? Either way I dont think it was put on for an experienced rider. Thanks I got the slow action throttle now as I said above am gonna fit it tomorrow and see how it feels.... I do like the idea of the extra puch that the Khein gives but you need control with power so thats what im hoping for. Just need to know how to set up the dark art that is suspension next!! Like I said I just got it and have been doing all the things that I think will put my mind at rest i.e. Chain and sprockets all replaced, all swingarm and linkage bushes and bearings replaced. All cables oiled etc etc. I checked the front suspension and both the rebound and compression are wound all the way out counter-clockwise i.e. on zero. Not sure where the rear is at yet.
  8. Sorry to jump on your thread here, but i have an '09 250 Pro and I seem to read everywhere that the 09 250 is super smooth power, smoother than any of the other models yet mine is not. A few weeks ago I tried 3 bikes one after the other just as a comparison and the differences were massive. 1st I had a ride on an '02 Sherco 250 felt all OK until I got off it onto a 300 Raga 07 of another mates, I know that they are worlds apart in tech but it was the smoothness that got me straight away and I thought hmmm thats nice. I then got on another gasser of the same year '07 but a 280 Pro. This felt a lot more snappy, and my 250 gives the same sort of feel. I really want for the smoothness that I felt on my mates raga, now a couple of things I have learned over the last few weeks may go some way to explain, firstly slow action throttles....I dont know for sure yet but im willing to bet he maybe has a slow action throttle (will have to ask) just with it being a raga and a bit of a beast. I have a quick action throttle. Also, my bike has the Khein carb on it, I did recieve the standard Dellorto carb with it, my question is should i maybe run it with the standard carb and also why would someone put the Khein carb on it? I mean I understand the quality and the jet-ability of a Khein but really why would you want one over a standard one just so Ican understand myself. Thanks
  9. As per the title really, would like to get myself an IRC Rear as they seem to be what everyone on here recommends. Can anyone tell me where the cheapest place to get one is? So far I have found this place which offers free delivery. http://www.roadtrackandtrial.co.uk/irc-tri...00x18-116-p.asp
  10. Yeah to be honest mate i;ve just got the bike and its like this already, personally I would have done something about it the minute I noticed it rubbing, some people are either just too lazy, too dumb or have too much money, with this guy I think it was the latter. Anyway im left now to sort it out, im gonna try to get a nice patch welded on it tomorrow somewhere as im off work then i'll probably make a spacer for the exhaust mount on the middle section that should pull it out plenty at the rear.
  11. Is there still no sure fire long term, in fact stuff long term, permanent solution to this!! Youd think that Gas Gas could have sorted this out by now they seem to have been like this since the first JT's. I have just aquired an 09' 250 and the exhaust has already been rubbing on the tyre so much that its wafer think in onw point and if you stick your palm over the end of the tail pipe it blows little bubbles out of a tuny pinhole!! Is there really no decent solution to this, does anyone do a replacement silencer for a decent price? Also failing that does anyone know where I can have an aluminium patch tig welded on to mine by a compitent welder close to Manchester? Cheers
  12. I got an '09 250 and use Castrol Qtf and use 400ml from empty, make sure your oil level is halfway up the window. It comes in 1 litre bottles so best to buy 2 bottles that way you get 5 oil changes for around
