Great weekend up by.Left on Thursday morning in glorious sunshine and that
was the setting for most of my time at the Pre 65(greatest trial in the world ).
Spent Friday at the pipeline and Saturday at the sections next to picnic area
on the south side of the loch.Everyone I spoke to told me to get my entry in
for next year(nothing ventured),spent a wee bit of time watching the modern stuff
today but it didn't float ma boat.Great weekend roll on 2013(fingers crossed).

Tam,hows it looking for your trial at Gala, was doon the day with the Lanarkshire club
but felt oot my depth.Cracking ground but would have had to put a hinge in the middle
of the TY to get round. My lack of ability didn't help, retired early on but had a good run
round watching the sections.

The Melville Motor Club will be running a 2 day trial at Hume(between Greenlaw and Kelso in the Scottish Borders) on June the 30th and July the 1st.Tam has came up trumps finding this piece of ground which has never been trialled on.There will be 3 routes-A,B and C,the trial will suit all bikes modern through to Pre 65's and riders of all abilities. The Trial will be observed.Catering, toilets, hard standing and plenty of camping on site.Regs will be available shortly, check out the Melville website or Melville Trials on Facebook.

Had a good run round at Lothian's Trials Club's first trial at Kidlaw.I noticed
the TY tends to push the front a bit when turning slow/tight(1st gear),spoke
to some of the more experienced riders who said the heavy flywheel causes
this?also the bike breaks traction quite easy on climbs(using 1 st and the
grunt of the engine).Any advice would be appreciated.Really enjoying the TY,
having to work a lot harder riding it but when I clean a section its all the more
rewarding.

Will get Tam to have a word with the Big Man,will post more details when I get them.
Mega ground,sections a plenty(everywhere you look).

Was down in the Scottish Borders looking at ground for the Melville club with Tam and the crew.I've made a wee film (a bit wobbly,a bit like my riding) its on You Tube, its called "New Trials Ground In the Scottish Borders 2012".I'm a bit new to you tube so if some nice bloke(B40RT) could put the link up would be much appreciated.Tam and the Melville will have news/dates when this New venue will host its first event.

Stevie, the front brake is no that great and is not helped with quite a bit of dive on the front end.
Its got a fair bit of engine braking.Got to do a fork seal before my next outing so will have a wee
look at the front brake.

Never made the Melville Trial due to flu but managed out on Sunday
riding at the Edinburgh St Georges Pre65/twinshock.Only done 2 laps
nothing to do with the bike just me(need to get bike fit). What a piece
of kit the auld TY is,pulls like a train, plenty low down grunt and unlike
my previous bike(Scorpa SY250) the seat comes in handy.

Well done Tam and your team.Had a good run round today.Only managed 2 laps due to my
lack of fitness(must lay of the pies).Cracking venue, mega sections and like minded people.
I've not been trialling long just over a year but my best event so far despite my lacklustre
performance.

Finally on the mend after last weeks Serious Man Flu ,missed last weeks trial
on the TY.Managed to do a bit of work on the Alf the C15(new small end bush).
I was wondering what sort of fit/clearance there should be between the bush and
the gudgeon pin(waiting on a reamer coming to finish it off).

Braw,it'll be a wee while till Alf(my C15) is up and running. Its good
to see other peoples projects.Looks like you've got some decent
ground to play on.

Made it all the way down to Duns, got as far as section one then
my body expired, spent the last 48 hours knackered in bed with
some kind of flu thing.Never mind I'll no need to buy petrol for my
next trial.Well done to all that made the effort and Tam and his
team.Away back to my bed.

Thanks Ross, should be a good doo,see you tomorrow.

Was looking at Alf the other day and looking at the sump which hangs
down below the bottom frame rails,is there a sump guard/bash plate
for the C15 or will I have to make one.Googled plenty of websites looking
for such an article but no joy. Making one won't be a problem but it would
be nice to see one so I can get some ideas.

Somerled you'll enjoy the trial, its got a cracking big lap.The sections are well
thought out with something for all abilities.I'm going to have a run round on the
C route(not rode a trial since last August,I'm getting on a bit and riding a twinshock).

Looking at the Becker Montesa from '79,it looks
like the new Jotagas has the same style of swing
arm.

Down at Duns today with Tam and the boys(and Cammy).Setting
out,mega lap about 3 or 4 mile long(like a mini enduro),great
sections which have something for everyone:- climbs, drops, burn
(stream),twists and turns and a cracking veiw over the Scottish
Borders.Should suit all experiences(even an old bugger like me
on my rattly TY).

Woody think the main problem with Pre 65 is that the Hymn
book is that big that people are signing from different
pages. What trials need is to follow one set of regs/spec ,I was
involved in road racing for many years and in classic racing
there is a set of rules/specs which nearly every club in the UK use
,they belong to the CRMC.The only thing is that the horse has well
and truly bolted and it'll take more than a bucket of oats
to get the bugger back.I'm building a C15 which is not full of trick
bits(as I said at the beginning of this post is that there are no hard and fast regs./specs-I would love a fit a Mikuni, jap forks/wheels and other bits and pieces)but without a proper guide line I'm making it pretty standard. It'll weigh a ton and handle like a clothes horse and
be totally gutless.Weren't they all like that
