My sy 250 boiled up today, which makes me have a problem with the fan I think as I can't recall it coming on today....anyway, can anyone suggest a couple of easy tests to find the issue ?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, in that case, my apologies, I never realised you were forced in to reading and then replying to the topic

So what, what does it matter, it's hardly like the text is costing a ton of broadband width is it

Don't find him funny at all tbh, but good on him sticking it to them.

I believe the fuel is all part of your entry and is strategically placed along the routes, usually manned by the armed services

Every second Tuesday, whether it needs it or not

We went and looked at a bike today for a mate, asked the guy, when was the last time you changed the gearbox oil.....answer, ach, don't get out on it much, maybe changed it twice in the last three years......goodbye !

A rough looking one that been trialled regularly and maintained regularly is a bike worth buying IMO, and when I say rough I mean plastics of course, not all dents and bashes....just my opinion, others may and probably will disagree.
No bad experience btw, I've only ever bought one trials bike in my puff
-
Funny you should post all that, cause recently I've been thinking about buying a new( to me that is ) bike, but having looked at my ability, and how long I've been doing this sport (months) and I thought exactly the same as you, new tyres, new s&c shortly and a nedw front pipe ( I damaged it first ever time out) and it'll be good to go until such time as my ability out rides it (read...never)
-
I'd rather buy a rough looking bike that has been regularly trialled and well maintained than a clean looking bike that has sat around gathering dust.

Must be the best ever tip for anyone wishing to finish a six days, and I've never even done a six days nor ever likely to either, but I know what it's like riding over wet moors for one day.

Can't help you on any of your questions, but congrats on an entry, I will be looking out for you during the week

I was more wondering what the general definition is rather than speaking about us, and our A is more a novice route compared to SACU events I believe.
-
Just reading there about the 290 sherco and a few stating it's not for a beginner, which makes me wonder, how do you define a beginner ? I've only been trial riding since April last year, done every trial near me since, I am still a beginner IMO, but a few of my mates have since started up, like just a couple weeks etc, I am, at this stage, miles better than them, but they are beginners, so how does one define a beginner ?? A month ? 6 months ? A year ?

Caps don't fit trials bike, or at least not the standard caps you get with the pack, I returned mine to the shop, but as you say rear brake bleed is a job from hell, mind and remove your pads, as they will probably get covered in fluid and become contaminated.
-
Just had the very same problem at a trial today on my SY, did the first half with no rear at all despite numerous bleeds, released the banjo bolt on the caliper and suddenly I had rear brakes again, I'm guessing that's where the air will be.
-
Sorted !!
Always best to check the condition of your pads before you start tearing the bike apart
Thanks anyway

No fluid loss that I can see, piston pushes back manually, but I've had the bike out in much colder conditions than today and it's been fine, and was fine for at least an hour today ???
-
Out on the scorpa today, rear brake was working fine, then suddenly stopped working. Took the lever off made sure the rod was pushing in to the piston, which it was fine, pushed up the pison again with an allan key, was pushing up fine, but still nothing transferring to the rear calliper ???
Any ideas what the problem might be ???

Hmm.... seems we're missing a few posts from this topic from earlier
Quite embarrassing

Oh you'll get a frosty reception from a few on here at the mere mention of an AMCA club up in Scotland
Join it fella, great trials, great venues, just one or two of their members are a bit touchy though actually having just bought a 315r you may even know one of them
