    2006 Scorpa.

To anyone else who has this problem, check your float height, mine was well out. Now set to 23mm and a new pilot jet it runs like a dream. No more bogging, its crisp off the throttle. It was basically just getting far to much fuel. Dave.

Thanks Dom, i'll strip it down and have another look. Some else mentioned that the float height is quite a critical measurement to get them to run correctly.

    2006 Scorpa.

I bought a 2006 Scorpa a few weeks ago and the carb was really blocked and would only run on choke. Not sure how long previous owner had used it like this. Anyway cleaned the carb and it ran fine. I did my first trial in 30 years on Friday and although the bike seemed crisp on the throttle and revved cleanly before entering the section, it seemed to bog and cut out when in the section after trying to open it up after having closed the throttle. It also backfired several times when trying to start it after it cut out and a couple of times when I hit the kill button as if there was unburnt fuel lurking about. The air screw is set at 2.5 turns out, the aircleaner is clean, its a new correct rating plug and the carb needle is set at position three. Anybody suffered a similar problem on a Scorpa or other bike. The fuel mix is 80:1 and 97 RON fuel. It made it a really long hard day.

    Fantic

Thanks Baldilocks, with a bit of heat and gentle deadblow hammer it slipped in a treat. Sounds great but looks to good to get dirty.

    Fantic

Thanks for that , i'll give it a try. With the cases being Magnesium I didn't want to force it, or pull it through at an angle.

  7. Morning Kevin, I posted a similar message a few weeks ago, " back to trial after 30 year break", just got the bug again and rebuilding a Fantic 247, a fair bit more complex than the Bultaco, Ossa and various Montesas I had in the mid 70's. Hope we;ve not bitten off more than we can chew and that we still bounce when we come off and don't come round in the local A&E . Best of luck, i'm in North Lancs so we may even compete in an event together when we get to National level. Dave.

    Fantic 247

Well, my last post was where I asked for some help with my 247 forks.....didn't get any replies....I assume nobody knows the answer!!!!!!!!!. Anyway these Fantic take a bit of getting use to from the mechanics side of things and to that end I'm appealling to anyone that has a workshop manual for these bikes to get in touch.Another problem i've encountered is that the rear Marzocchi unit has a small thin spring on it which won't really support my 16 stone, i did get a spare unit that has a much thicker spring on it but looks like its off an motocross bike. Does anyone know the correct spring for this bike???? Thanks............hoping for a reply this time. Hope its not me being thick and not setting this up properly and there's loads of replies out there that can't get through .

    Fantic 247

I,m currently rebuilding my FANTIC 247 and have a question of anyone that has an original 247. I have taken the aluminium fork caps off the top of each fork leg to expose the damping rods and fork internals , the damping rods or main internal rods (not the fork tubes) are held in place by a collar that fits over the main damping rods which have a two small halfmoon collets which fit into the recess in the rod.............that bits fine. As I took them apart i noticed that on the damping fork ( found that one leg damps the other is sprung ) there was a small aluminium spacer cap that seems to sit on top of the damping rod to press/hold the collets in place and appears to be the right length to touch the top of the fork cap when its screwed back in place, which prevents the collets from moving. There wasn't a spacer/collet holder on the other leg. I'm assuming that there should be one on each side????????. Secondly, on the top of each damping rod is a threaded hole which leads me to think that there should have been an original Fantic spacer on each side that was held in place with a screw and that the spacer i have on the one side is a home made effort when the originals have been lost , can anyone help as i cannot find any diagrams of these forks on the internet. Thanks
  12. Morning everyone, just bought a Fantic 247 to renovate and compete in North Lancs area trials. They're a lot more technical than my old Montesa, Bultaco's and Ossa's ever seemed to be. Already met Bill Pye who seems to know more than anyone else about these machines. Can anyone direct me to any legal practice areas in North Lancs please. Thanks.
