  1. I was out training alone on my old Yamaha TY 250 and was driving on a 3 meter high step with a lot of roots. Suddenly something went wrong . I total lost my grib and started to fall down with my back first. I landed in a tree, hanging in my left knee . A split second later the bike landed on top of the knee. I manged to push the bike away and crowl slowly down the tree. No more trial that day. By some miracel the knee was okay a few days later.

    300 Pro

This weekend we had a 3-day trip to Norway, where we only did rocks. The 280 was very good on vertical steps, never tried it better , it was like being fired out of a canon. But it also does the mud sections nicely in 3 gear going with low rpm. Great engine. Later I will post some pictures.

    300 Pro

I don't agree with the term aggressive for the 280 Pro. I only know the 2005 model, and that has a very predictabel torque at all rpms. When it comes to the enduro, the 300EC has more low bottom torque than the 250EC, but at higher rpms it is harder to kontrol the 300EC than the 250EC. It is not with out reason that the 250 has won WM quit a few times. With the trial bike in question we are talking aboit smaller difference. As a new driver you probably wont notice the differences. I started driving trial in 1986 on a Montesa 349 (from 1979) and I had great fun with the bike. What I am trying to say is that you can have great fun on all those bikes
  4. Here is a picture of my bikes. My new GasGas 280Pro, and my Yamaha XT550 from '83 (the XT550 has done 207.000km/128.624 miles).

    300 Pro

I have been doing enduro for some years, lately I have had a GasGas EC250 (2004). I bought a new GasGas TXT280Pro this year. The power is quit easy to control; it has a lot of low bottom power and revs very nicely. I have had no problems with "long arms". I don
  6. The filter at the carburator, is it placed inside the carburator or at the open/reserve/closed valve?
  7. I found the answers: MAIN JET Function: The main jet controls the amount of fuel that's used during half to full
  8. When you say pilot jet, is it the main nozzle or is it the idle nozzle? If the problem happens because of to lean mixture at closed throttle, then I would expect the idle nozzle to be the way to go (if the GasGas has an idle nozzle).
  9. Did you try to set the needle one/two click higher, before re-jetting?
  10. The clutch makes sounds when it is engaged, typically when I am going slowly up a steep hill. The knock came when the throttle was snapped shut after higher revs. Yesterday I was out driven, and the metallic sounds didn't come. So it is likely that it has to do with the supply of fuel as Jenkism suggested. An interesting thing on the GasGas is the Gear ratio. I use 1 gear a lot on the GasGas, where I used to use 2 gear. It is like the first gear is lying in between a typical 1 and 2 gear on a trial, it suits me well. Going up a steep hill and passing over a steep rock it does superb.
  11. I tend to agree with you. The problems with the EC250 were solved without using so many hours of work. With the Pro I have used a bundle of hours. Now I have driven some hours on the Pro and have two issues to resolve. - The motor gives a metallic sound when I use higher rpm shortly. I have got some advice about this problem in the technical part of the forum. I will first try a higher octane fuel, secondary I will raise the needle in the carburator. - Another thing is that the clutch some times makes noises (it is not gliding in the clutch). Is that normal? Beside the problems I really like to drive the bike. It is impressing light and very easy to through around.
  12. You should expect the same quality, they are build on the same factory.
  13. The problems with the EC250 was: - The gearbox was making noise when it got worm. The dealer took it bach but didn't find any reason. We agreed to try to see if it was a question of braking in. After 10 hours driving it was okay. - The airfilter cover was to big and so sharp, that it was cutting a hole in the suction (between carburetor and airbox). I fixed it by cutting a piece of plastic of the cover. Then it was okay. - The same airfilter cover had a problem with the clip-on closing. I had to use strips (plastic tightening) to keep it closed. - After 1 hour of driving there came water out of the top of the cylinder. It turned out that 2 screws was not tightened. Beside that the smaller things like, loose springs, electircs not working and other loose stuff.
  14. The motor has only done 4-5 hours so it shoundn't be worn. I will follow your advice starting with trying a different fuel (we do not have Optimax in Denmark). Thanks for the advice
  15. From Jenkism poll "Which Bikes are the worst", the result is that a bit more than 33% of all trial ryders have had major problems with their new GasGas. This is the higest fault rate of all bikes !!! I don't think it is a coincedent that I have had major problems with two new GasGas, even though that this poll has a limited number of anwsers. See you out there on the tracks
