    montesa 315R help

i have a 97 it looks damned near mint runs great and is very reliable and is a third of the cost of an 04 if you can find one if you look for an 01 or later as long as it has the blue forks and has been well looked after you cant go wrong
  7. couldnt you just paint it with clear laquer to keep the shine without the effort
  8. i run an iridium plug in mine it rins great with it
  9. im doing my top end next month just new rings bearing and pin i have noticed a slight rattle from time to time plus i want to do it need to fit those reeds before i do the top end so i can notice the difference
  10. good luck mate listen out for a gritty rumbley noise that is the mains which is expensive to do you should be able to knock him down a bit even if it is perfect due to dating it wrong (if he has) it looks older to me also check the inside of the rear pipe gets worn away by crap on the tyre all the best mate
  11. good il fetch mine to you
  12. wouldnt the rattle be the small end rather than anything else

    4RT differences

thankyou im sticking with my trusty old 315 love riding it and it never breaks
  16. unless the barrell is damaged i would replace small end bearing and rings shouldnt cost more than
  17. ok here goes looking from the left side look at your second pic you need to look between the barrell nut and that little 8mm just pull the clutch hose out of the way a little you will see the numbers and a larger letter in the middle about 3 -5 mm from the crankcase stamped on the back of the barrell i have to use a torch and a magnifying glass
  18. it is easy even i did it dont forget the left one is under tension only jumps up an inch or 2 but if you dont expect it it will take you by surprise and also dont forget to loosen the fork tube pinch bolts at the top of the yolk neil
  19. i was there mate very muddy trial but good fun the letter you are looking for is very low down and at the back
  20. Just take off the caps, the left one (as you sit on the bike) may be under a little pressure as it is the one with the spring under it, but it is not much. Then undo the drain plugs at the bottom of the forks and drain out all the oil. A more thorough way to get all the oil out is to remove the forks themselves and turn upside down and drain the oil straight out of the top of the fork, but that involves removal of mudguard and wheel etc. Refill with some good 5wt fork oil, I use Maxima over here, 300cc per side I think, and reassemble in reverse. I have a .PDF document about Paoli forks and how to change seals etc, PM me your e-mail if you want it. this is what canada 315 told me to do i have been told since to use 10w but the 5 w in mine is fine
