  2. Can anyone help me with what order the spacers/washers on the rear axle go on my Sherpa 199A . The bike has a speedo drive on the right side rear otherwise not sure what should be at each side. I have a manual but it is really unclear as to what goes where. Any help would be great or photos very welcome Cheers
  3. Hi there, thanks naichuff and sherpa325 for your post back on my wiring problem (lack of knowledge on my part) I gave the frame mount a good clean to get a good earth and got a good spark and have had the bike running tonight. so I can now strip it down and get it off to Shetland powder coatings to get frame and swing arm done. Trying to have the bike finished for the Shetland Classic Motor Show in june. Gary
  4. Hi there, can anyone help with what wires go where on bultaco sherpa 350 T 199A. The bike has points and there are 4 wires coming from the ignition casing. red.green.yellow and a black which connects to the coil. I am not planning to have lighting on the bike so i just need some advice as to what I need to connect the wires too. I have a wiring diagram which is unclear. If anyone has any photos they could post up to show how they are connected, that would be great. I got the bike as an unfinished non running project, so dont know if it had any problems with its ignition system. Any advice would be great. Cheers

  6. I was down at the Telford show from Shetland and it was a brilliant show. I went on the Saturday and the amount of really nice bikes and bits available was excellent. I did buy a couple of front brake torque arms for the sherpa I am restoring and they only cost
  7. Can anyone advise me regards the front wheel/axle set up on sherpa 199A model. I have bought the bike as a restoration project, but the front wheel is sitting off centre in the forks over to the left side. The speedo drive is mounted on the rear wheel. There is at present a spacer which sits into the right side bearing seal but not on the left side. Does it need one the same as the otherside if the speedo is not being used on the front. I have bought manuals but they are not clear on the matter at all. Please if anyone can help I would be greatful.
  8. Thanks charliechitlins I have cleaned the carb and the bike did start 2nd kick. Tested the spark as well and it seems a little poor so could also be a factor. Thanks for your help Gary.
  9. Hi there, I read the reply from one 1oldbanjo and I think they may be right. I had a 1992 Gt 250 which did the same ate plugs and it also smoked a lot. It turned out to be the seal at the back of the water pump and my water pump had dissintegrated (never did find it!) the seal is easy to change. With its new seal and water pump never given any more trouble and plugs are lasting normal duration as a friend now has the bike and he is well pleased with it.
  10. Thanks for your reply to question regards poor starting of 125 pro I will give the carb a good clean and check the pilot jet and others Cheers Gary
  11. Hi there, My daughters 125 pro 05 is very poor at starting takes a lot of kicking over and will run with the choke on for a while but if try to take choke off it dies. I dont know if it just needs to run with the choke for a lot longer. I am comparing it to my 280 pro which does not need much choke. I have wondered about compression as it seems pretty poor and if this was causing the poor starting initially. (compared pressure to 125 sherco) Have been thinking to put a new piston kit on it but thought would ask first if anyone has any ideas what might be the problem and any possible cures they would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers Gary
  12. Cheers to all who have replied to my query about the tyre coming off the rim. I am goint to try cleaning the rim and bead to make sure that there is no trace of silicone spry left on it and make sure I am not running at too low a pressure. I have used Vee rubber tyres before and not had any problems like this. Possibly just need to calm my riding style down a bit as well, but hey it's all [Trials and error!! Thanks to all for suggestions, I will work through until I solve problem.
  13. Thanks baldilocks for your reply. I havn't machined off the lip on the wheel and I fitted a second valve. I was using a little more pressure than I would normally, though I don't know what it was ( will need to get a low pressure gauge). Having gone and had a think about it more I am thinking that it may have been some silocon spray that had got on the bead area, as some was used in getting the new rim seal tape to bed in better. I am going to pop tyre back off the rim and clean the beads to make sure they are free of silicone. Thanks agin for your thoughts.
  14. Hi thre, this is my first time using the forum. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to keep the rear tyre on the rim of my 2006 280 pro. I had changed the tyre from having a tube in as the tyre was spinning on the rim and ripping the valve out, even with a rim lock!. So I have fitted a new tubeless tyre (Vee rubber) and fitted a new rim seal which has a valve fitted to it and a second valve to fill the hole from the rim lock. Went out for first try of the bike since fitting it and managed to take the tyre off the rim at one side following a landing slightly side ways from a small jump. I have had this happen to me before with my previous gasgas GT 25. Can anyone suggest a cure ie Can I get a tyre glue to glue it or what. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
