  1. Have you got a contact number for candy wheels oe email/web address?
  2. I did think of anodising, as powder coating would chip, but wouldn't anodising scratch easily? I know Candy Wheels on ebay did anodising, but never see him advertising on their anymore. Has anyone else tried anodising? Is it up to the job of withstanding the ocasional bash?
  3. SPUD, where did you get your wheels done, they look great? Are they powder coated or anodised? How much does it cost, Thanks
  4. Thinking of getting my rims powder coated black. A mate was asking me a couple of questions about it to which I don't have the answer, so wonder if anyone can help? 1. Would the paint fill in the spoke holes on the rim, forcing you to drill the paint out? 2. Does the inside of the rim need to be done too, meaning that you have to change the rim tape? Any advice on having rims powcer coated much appreciated. Martin
  5. Is it OK to use Iridium Spark Plugs in my 04 290 Sherco? I was thinking of trying the NGK BPR5EIX 6597 Iridium IX, but wanted to check first incase it does something horrible to my engine!
  6. Anyone know of any decent books on carb tuning? I twist the odd screw here and there, to get mine running how it should, but I would actually like to know what I am doing!
  7. Even if you did find a towbar you may find that the car sits too low, to tackle the usual trials 'car park'! I was consdering buying a ClioSport 182, but then thought about how low the bodywork valences would be sitting once the Sherco was on the back, and imagined the scraping/ripping noises as I drove my way across a rocky, rutted field. Might not be so bad with a trailer, but if you are thinking about fitting a rack, have a think about how low your car will sit once the bike is on the back.
  8. Martin Crosswaite - sorted me out with a pair of the boots I wanted in no time - unlike the company I ordered them from in the first place, who said that they had been dispatched & would be with me in a couple of days, and then sent me an email almost 2 weeks later saying that they didn't have any in stock!
  9. Thanks Martin. I have sent you an email.
  10. Cheers for that. Do you know how I can get hold of Martin Crosswaite?
  11. Does anyone know where I can buy a pair of new GAR trials boots, the brown oiled ones, not nubuck? I have been searching everywhere for these, and can't seem to get hold of a pair. Lots doing the Nubuck ones, but I can't help thinking they won't last as long as the oiled leather ones. My leather Alpinestars ones have given up after 10 years of loyal service, so I need to replace them ASAP! I have tried all of the 'big' trials shops, but no where seems to have them. Any help appreciated!
  12. I have been using IRC tyres, having swapped from Michellin X11. I think the IRC's are the best tyres I have used in terms of grip and wear. I have recommended them to others who have been equally impressed.
  13. Does anybody know where this is going to be held? And before all of those witty replies come back, I can pretty much guess that it will be in the South Eastern part of Wales!

    Fork Protectors

I have seen the carbon fork protectors on the bvm website for GasGas, Beta, Scorpa, but none for a Sherco. Does anywhere sell Sherco protectors? Also, YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE used to do a rear rubber mud flap/air box cover for the Sherco, but don't do it anymore. Does anywhere else do these?
  16. Yeah, Chelmsford and Wimbledon are a long way from Malvern, but for my sins, I work in London, so my week days are spent up here! Malvern does have its own trials club, though it only has a couple of events a year, and they aren't really geared to anything more than beginners. However, there are loads of Gloucestershire based clubs like the Cheltenham Home Guard club, the West Glos and Dean Forest, Stroud Valley club. Best if you live in Hereford would be the Wye Valley AC. All of these clubs have fantastic ground, and all the trials cater for all standards, and the scene is very active. No where close to practice around Malvern. The Hills would be a great place, but the Conservators would never allow it! Closest place I know is Kilkenny Quarry @ Andoversford.
  17. I have my 2004 290 Sherco with Carole Nash 3PFT, and garaged at an address that isn't mine (which increases the premuim) for
  18. If you want to get a trials bike registered, DO NOT go anywhere near the Wimbledon DVLA office, as they are the most awkward bunch of people you could meet, when it comes to registering a used trials bike. The reason I wanted to get it insured was to keep my no claims going, and because I didn't want to use protect-a-bike insurance from TMX, as you then have to buy all sorts of approved locks, anchors etc. Plus I was up against time, as Carole Nash (along with all the other insurance companies I tried, will only insure on a chasis number for 30 days. I went to Wimbledon DVLA twice, armed with all the documentation under the sun, including a Certificate of Newness from Malcolm Rathmell Sport, and a supporting letter from them, plus my bill of sale, insurance etc. They kept on insisting on me producing a dating letter from Sherco themselves stating when the bike was manufactured (even though MRS had stated all of this in their supporting letter). MRS have never been asked to produce such a letter from Sherco, and doubted Sherco even had such a procedure. Anyway, the upshot of it was, that I took all the info that I had to the Chelmsford DVLA office, and they registered it straightaway, and said that the documentation that I had was absolutely fine. If you are going to register a used trials bike, make sure you have a Certificate of Newness from the importer, a Dating letter from the importer (or if you can get one, directly from the manufacturer) and your insurance. Also get the importer to write a supporting letter, stating when the bike was manufactured, imported, chasis number etc. Stuff like the bill of sale always helps, as it proves that you have paid VAT. And finally.....don't take it to the Wimbledon office!
  19. Does anyone know how much a set of spokes and/or nipples are for a sherco? As I am going to anodise the wheels, I may as well replace the spokes too, just so it is all new looking, as there is no point having my funky black wheels, with rusty nipples and dull spokes!
  20. Cheers jonny beta for the picture, it does look good. Follow web link for a picture of an 05 beta with black rims. Not a great shot of the bike, but when you see it in the flesh (and when it is clean) it looks gorgeous! When i first saw a Gasser with balck rims I thought that nothing could touch it for looks but the beta is something else. Candy wheels seems like the place to get it done. Sod it, I'm gonna have it done, and i'll post a few shots of it when its finished. http://www.trialsinfo.com/events05/thamess...e/target27.html
  21. Join the Wye Valley Auto Club, run by Trevor Hunt. It has access to some of the best trials ground in Britain, especially the trials around Craswall in the Black Mountains. I had to move away from that area, and really miss those old style sections, based in streams with rocks, and big steep climbs out.
  22. I am thinking of getting the wheels on my 04 Sherco 290 anodised black. I have seen Gassers and Beta's with this done, and it looks the dogs, but I think this is helped is these bikes have red in them, and the contrast of colour looks great. Has anyone got any pics of a Sherco with black rims?
