  1. Lane - If you have lost all of your interest in the sport, why do you spend so much time on this forum postulating about how things should be or could be? It would seem that you certainly have more important things to do.
  2. Subira - how is the Mitani clutch working out for you? Have you noticed any difference from the stock unit on your 05 4RT?
  3. I agree with masso. The clutch problem demonstrates itself not only with clutch engagement and dis-engagement in the sections but also during starting when the engine is hot and when trying to start the bike when in gear. Placing the bike in neutral does not always help the problem. To me these are indications of clutch drag. There does not seem to be any oils or lubricants that help overcome it. Will be very interested to hear how the Mitani system works from those who have purchased the kits. From what I have heard the 06 4RT does not suffer from any of these problems so Honda must have made significant changes in the clutching system.
  4. There was a time when anyone who described the sport as Trials they would be ostracized forever. The correct name for the sport was Observed Trials. It seems that all forms of motorcycle competition have changed so much and there are so many versions of each category it became necessary to roll with the punches. Personally I still prefer the term Observed Trials but at the same time I think there should be a standardization of classes and a standardization of riding rules and regulations.
  5. With a half link added to the normal number of links you can fit a 44 tooth sprocket with no problems.
  6. If you decide to get one try http://www.lewisportusa.com/. They have several models to choose from. Say hello to Adrian.
  7. This bike was also featured in the TC classified ads on the front page. :santawink:
  8. Knowing whose bike this is, I know how much time and effort went into it. I has really turned out nice. Bet it will be in the sections this coming weekend. Let's call it a 06 Repsol 4RT (no replica).
  9. I will bet that Mich Lin will have fun with this one.
  10. As a former professional rider you were fully aware of the rules before you attempted to "buck" the system to prove a point. While making a mockery of known National Trials rules and regulations of the sport in this country you continue to air your problems on an international forum. Part of growing up is to take responsibility for one's own actions. Grow up, take your licking and go pout in another corner. Keep your dirty laundry in the USA. The Europeans are not interested. Neither are your fellow Americans who have no interest in your little "game". You have lost the respect you had for 30 years as a once good rider. You are now making a fool of yourself in Europe.
  11. By the way, where is RINGO. We haven't heard from him in a long time. With Mich Lin back this would really get things going.
  12. Due to a shortage of these plugs in the USA I Have used 5's, 6's and 7's in all outside temperatures. I have found no differences in performance.

    Dream Bike

The 50/50 mix mentioned on the US Montesa site refers to the 315 as part of the preparation of a pre-mix for two strokes. Obviously this is not a requirement for the 4RT.

    New 4rt

Although all of the modifications mentioned for the 05 4RT are very beneficial to that model they may not be needed on the 06. The factory may have made some changes to the new model so that they are not needed. Try the new bike out before considering making the changes that helped the 05. You will really enjoy the 4RT in any case.
  15. I have not tried it yet but it is a known fact that there is much less tire pressure fluctuation due to temperature variations when using nitrogen gas instead of air in tires as is done in auto racing. Might be an interesting experiment to try this with trials tires.

    4rt Oils

I have been using the factory recommended oils with no problems.
  18. I think trialsurfer is proud of the fact that his son won the pro class by beating the reigning champion. Great job Chris.

    New 4rt

Recently changed my oil and oil filter. The procedure itself was easy and straightforward (no flywheel removal required). Just follow the directions in the manual. The hardest part was removing the crank case gasket. Using a lot of care not to harm the case, I scraped the old gasket off with a razor blade. It took me about an hour. Montesa must use superglue on it. After completing the gasket removal I used a good quality grease to seal everything together. Don't be reluctant to go through this procedure, just be sure to allot some extra time for the gasket removal time.
  20. In the USA there is a trials dedicated publication called Trials Competition. It is excellent. I have a subcription to it as well as Trialsworld magazine that is put out by the publishers of Trials and Motocross News. It is pricey in the US but is well worth it. http://www.trialscomp.com/

    New 4rt

    1. You would be much happier with a 315 clutch master cylinder. 2. Most change to either 43 or 44. I run a 46 and am very pleased with it. 3. I run with all restrictors in. See no reason to change this. Good noise control. 4. Oil (clutch & engine), oil filter every 6 events. 5. I backed off 1/8th turn on idle speed. 6. Use clutch less especially with 46 tooth sprocket. Runs great and is pretty much maintenance free. Sounds boring but it is a great, easy to ride machine. ENJOY !!!!
