  1. you will find it a lot easier on the evo after practicing on the xr this will be beneficial
  2. you need to determin if the fan is spinning slow or not ,(it will spin slower at tick over ) might pay to try a voltage check with the fan running , you have checked the power sauce for the fan and the switch and found to be ok ( how did you test switch ) so if these are ok you only then need the hot coolant to pass the switch to trigger it if this isnt happening check the coolant pump is pumping or cooling system is circulating with no blockages , if the system is pressurising and blowing coolant out the rad top you could have a head gasket problem or faulty cap ,also check the air can pass through the radiator and direction of fan is correct ,a very lean running engine or sticking brakes can cause over heating
  3. 250 would be fine there all reasonbly ok all having there pitfalls personally id stay away from sherco or get one of the older ones with the tank on top of frame ,might be best to get a cheap one to start with incase you dont like it your moto x skills will be useless in trials riding ,a 4t scorpa 175 or beta rev4 could be an easy to use starting bike ,a beta rev3 or evo 200cc would be ideal if you can find one
  4. seems they were fitted with a dodgy batch of cdi,s ( as i had stated ) gasgas cadettes also have had problems
  5. an easy deterrant would be to remove a wheel and take it indoors this is happening far too often
  6. its all there ,not a bad bus
  7. my friend had a very simular problem turned out to be a dodgy cdi
  8. get a montesa 4rt ,stay away from sherco ,ossa have had gearbox problems so look into that if going down that route
  9. try billet parts or sammy miller or poss twinshock shop
  10. As above slight rotation is normal
  11. Yes can drop off ill pm my numBer tonight is it a darlington or bainbridge trial
  12. yep i am doing it on the mont i did have a 172 bottom end that had done next to nothing but sold it but did have some parts left from it
  13. be good bike for him are you doing blue bar ?
  14. yeah thought it must of been i asked about a front tyre for the whitehawk i was on a 200 ,,
  15. i could have a look at that for you as done plenty 200 engines and had a 172 engine which is very simular you are better off keeping origanal as when you start modifying it opens up a can of worms ,,,did you just do darlington classic trial in richmond
  16. the tensioner mounts to a longer crankcase bolt just under front sprocket ( this was possibly optional on the early 200,s ) it is possible it has been done away with or never had ,the tensioner fitted looks spot on ,personally i would just fit the top tube to keep chain clean and look more origanal but it depends what you want to use it for origanal would be ok for light off road and road use other wise its looking good for real off road use
  17. he means under front sprocket but they suffer from poor tension been so far from rear sprocket ,chain can derail easily this causes bolt to bend and cracks the casing so you are better off with one on the swing arm ,they did not have a rear sprocket guard but again this could be usefull ,, is the swing arm steel or alloy ? a pic of swing arm and tensioner would be handy
  18. try inmotion or southwest montesa ,failing that some engineers work with plastic and i think there is companies that can make virtually any cable
  19. blimey what a chew ,, if using air impact gun they need to be carefull not to round it out or youre in more trouble did you try hitting it whilst trying to undoe when hot ,,been seized to the bush wont stop it undoing to start with (but could then go tight unless it pushes the nut away from swing arm ) as the inner bush will turn it sounds like it could be seized in the swingarm as you probably know steel against alloy is just asking for trouble ,try soaking where the bolt passes through the swing arm failing all this it may need to be drilled out
  20. the shock goes through the bolt into the nut just try it
  21. think your missing the point the shock isnt suppose to shock it in any direction it is to break the seal inbetween bolt and nut if you have a handheld impact driver that could help though
  22. see if can file grind the shank flat and give it a good bray into the allen head wear goggles just incase then put a 6 sided socket on the shank bray and turn at same time ,you need to get shock into it
  23. leave it to soak for a while then if you have an allen bit in the bolt or even a drift in the allen head and beat it with a hammer to get some shock through it ,if you can turn the bolt whilst someone can hit the tool or even the nut to shock it whilst trying to turn it it should undoe failing this it will need heating
  24. i would expect long skirt to go to front exhuast side you could try it in and see where the ring gaps end up they dont want to pass passed the exhaust port ,,, does it have any windows in it
  25. up to 06 will be ok 07 08 might fit if you use the tank panel aswell
