  1. I've said this before but what about making it a pre'60 trial? - or even better a pre'60 Pre-Unit construction trial. I bet a lot of the riders on cub/B40tacos have real bikes lying tucked up at the back of their garages. It would make the spectators life more interesting.
  2. glad to see the Pre 65 organisers have embraced the computer age- its taken them 15 years to rebuild the 1964 majorhard 3b-66932a found in a shed in Bakalite Glen - When they plugged the last valve in it sprung to life and they then designed a complex programme which ran overnight to put the entrants list into alphabetical order. - the result is worth it though i'm sure you'll agree.
  3. just put a set of gaiters on the forks, paint the tank and frame black and ride the pre'65 - everyone else does :D
  4. Te' didnt have those fangled pooter things in 1965 so you wont find them on web lad. interestingly enough they also didnt have nicasil bores, single ring pistons, showa forks hidden inside roadholders, secret reed valves, tubless sticky tyres, or 10" of movement in the rear shocks.

  6. Is it not ironic that if Honda had spent a fraction of their time developing a fuel injected two stroke, the emission levels could have been brought down to that of a four banger? Imagine the state of that back silencer after the Scottish!
  7. you're missing the point BJ I am first to suggest that Gavin Johnston and about 6 other riders in Scotland deserve to be Experts - my point is that I know many other riders that are made up to expert status that hardly ever ride an A route - and NEVER ride a championship trial. How can someone who has never ridden a Scottish Championship trial (A route) justifiably be made up to an expert? What I suggest is that the top 10 in the Scottish championship be made experts, - If you do not retain a top 10 position in the championship within 3 years you are downgraded. I would be first in the queue to give up my expert status for a decent grading system. another thing while i'm on a roll - we used to get a list of experts sent to us with our licences but that seems to have stopped - any ideas why?
  8. think your'e bad down south? - in Scotland a Novice is someone who hasn't ridden a national trial, and an expert is someone who has ridden a few national trials, a Non-expert is anyone inbetween- its a farce! it means nothing.

  11. tried both about 10 times and got up witches most but trotters about half. without a doubt the hardest step is the big step on the second section of Coire Mhoiair - just above pipeline (not used 2003 as we turned out before it) - never got up that one.
  12. so is this 10 point rule for breaking any rule in the Sup Regs/SACU/ACU/FIM Rules, Standing Regs, National sporting code, ? furthermore I assume that we will have to take our bikes to sign on now - to prove that we have our licence number on the front of our bike rather than last years ssdt number? confused whinger
  13. I still dont get the 10 point rule - sorry to be a whinger but the rulebook is full of safety, environmental, and conduct rules to ensure that we all have a good days sport and go home happy. I am not questioning the need to have a number on my bike - i am questioning the penalty of 10 marks for not complying with one of many many rules. what is so special about this particular one? and this penalty is going to cause so much grief and illfeeling (not to mention difficulty)in enforcing. ps - i do feel entitled to whinge as i do my bit to run at least one trial a year.
  14. the main issue is being lost here - its the imposition of a 10 mark penalty for not complying with a "rule" why only not displaying numbers - surely its more important to comply with other rules involving safety or conduct, I just dont understand the reasoning behind the 10 point rule. and what about english riders???? will they be exempt?
  15. thanks guys -got is sussed - our club will provide little stick on labels 2"x1" with their riding number on - that way we will "superceed" the requirement to display licence numbers so getting round the farsical 10 point rule. BTW what about english riders coming up to Scotland - will they get a 10mark penalty. jut the thing to "foster and encourage motorcycle sport in scotland".

  17. the best plan is to talk your mates into carrying everything - you only need to cary the waterproofs then just make sure that they are always behind you
  18. thats a hell of a chain splitter Ishy - ive never needed one yet (pretty close last year but luckily the link was in the right place when the chain got snagged up in the wheel. no pump? once those bottles are used your snookered - and just take a front tube- it will fit both wheels - chances are it will be a front puncture you get anyway. I also take a few BIG cableties - if you rear wheel puncture and the tyre comes off the rim both sides you will not get it back on with a tube and handpump - you need to cabletie the tyre onto the wheel, I rode witches burn one year with a cabletied on tyre and it didnt shift. i also have a small set of vicegrips which have been mega handy over the years - once used clamped onto the gearchange shaft when i wiped the lever off - will fit most things in an emergency and worth their weight in guinness. smart waterproof, is it from the states? good luck, not long now

  21. I witnessed one top rider being challenged by officials about an apparent engine change - he held up his hands and bowed out gracefully. Come on - we would all try it to see if we could get away with it if we could. we havent spent all that money/time/effort not to. However the rules are there and if you get caught "its a fair cop"
  22. take it you've just not put them together again after the last trial. I remember the 'yellow grippers' you could tell where they'd been by the bits that fell off them Hear that Fantic are also making a comeback - now that WAS a good bike
