  1. good point luke, i was wondering why noone had asked why the plug cap wasnt just pulled off.failing that, i agree with the stalling, and what was said about fuel starvation.i got a throttle jam at max revs on an ossa gripper 350 the other week, but luckily it sorted its self out after i rolled the throttle a few times.
  2. is that the same usa that has the biggest porn industry in the world??
  3. woooo.i need to get out more thank god im gettin a mx bike soon. be pullin loads of birds then
  4. yo whats with the censorship, are we not all hot blooded males here? damn i need to get out more when it comes to anime............
  5. dont know how practical this is on trials bikes but here goes.a couple of weeks ago dads mate brought a daihatsu 4x4 in saying it was making strange noises when he braked. to cut a long story short, there was nothing left at all of the brake pads, and the pistons had seized. we heated the caliper gently with a blowtorch, but not enough to cause damage, then forced the pistons in with a screwdriver, left the screwdriver there and pressed the brake to push the pistons out again. after a couple of repeats of the process the brakes worked fine, and have no had any problems since.like i say i dont know if its practical on a trials bike as to be honest never had the need to take one apart, but try it if you think it will help
  6. sounds like the timing to me.a mate had a fantic that sheared a woodruff key and that backfired once, ran for a few seconds and refused to start again.due to the fact the woodruff key is important to the timing it would explain why the bike will not run anymore. just a thought, see if it hepls
  7. just got my ossa 350 gripper back together after the psiton rings yet and a thought struck me, being 1980 would it be better to run it on leaded or unleaded, will it make much if a difference either way, im not bothered about performance, just wondering how running unleaded in an engine that old will affect engine wear. oh yeah, does anyone know what sort of mix i should be running, we ran it on 25:1 but we dont know
  8. yeah, tourist info offices that i found. like i say im not sure if there is anywhere that will lease bikes, but if you find one tell me,could be of interest later on
  9. there are a few you can try bud,amblesidetic@southlakeland.gov.uk Bownesstic@lake-district.gov.uk try these, as far as i know there arent any places in cumbria where you can hire bikes like that, u would have to bring your own i think, but im new to the scene so ive never really looked into it that much, in barrow we have a track but you need a bike. hope them addresses help
  10. i dont know of many places, as im 16 and the only place we can go is the local sort of mx track that is used by everyone, you can just turn up and ride.thats in barrow in furness, south lakes.other than that i would just contact tourist info before you go. what sort of bike you on.im sure theres loads of greenlanes to ride, just ask TI.and ill try to get a pic, as its my mates.
  11. i found trialsworld quite a good magazine.could have a little more in it in the way of bike reviews and equipment tests, but there you go, i usually just look at the pics anyways
  12. theres a good condition da bomb trials bike, magura hydraulic rim brakes, i think hs33's for 100 quid in barrow in furness, cumbria if anyone is interested, if you are reply to this topic
  13. damn new fangled engines, far better when all you needed to start one was a blank shotgun cartridge, a burning rag and a hammer......
  14. same to you mate, hope you get decent money for it, and i payed 300 quid for mine
  15. nah mate im in the uk, cumbria, came across my bike in somebodies backyard and liked the look at it, the piston rings i found are in the us, and a ossa expert in the usa said they fetch up to 1500 dollars
  16. youd be suprised, idve kept it myself, how come your selling it, and if you dont mind me asking what did you pay for it?im going to sell mine in a couple of months and i want a sort of guide price for it, iom b uying a moped with the cash as im 16
  17. darn hijackers....nah its ok mate, feel free, its my topic. i dont need a full bike but if you have a set of piston rings ill gladly take them off your hands...........you got any spares for it, i need as many as i can find. my bike is complete but i might as well stockpile spare if i can
  18. you think the engine bolt is badly placed?? try changing the plug in the field, or even going nearf the plug when the engine is warm, theres about haly an inch of space under the fuel tank to get your hand into to take the cap off and remove the plug. theres been a few burnt fingers and a lot of swearing going on since i bought it all i need now is the rings, which should be ordered within the next week, then ill be back off the road.........one thing i have found by the way is that the rear shocks seem to be very soft and i have bottomed them out a few times, and the forks seem to have a small leak
  19. nice. the gripper seems to be a good bike, but its my first so i have no comparison. should be ok when i order my piston rings, and if anybody else needs them they are 30 quid from keith lynas. that includes p&p
  20. yeah, but i personally think the gripper is better......................
  21. ill keep that in mind, although it will have a 70 kit put on it as me and my mates will be going all over on them, and i get b ored on a rev and go.was looking at derbi GPR's or aprilia rs50's
  22. i saw one rougher than mine on ebay a few weeks ago and it went for 750, so who knows what it will find, and talking to keith lynas they are quite sought after in the us.ah well, i need the money to buy a geared 50cc moped, so better find someone with too much money and not enuf sense
  23. just a thought, are all ossa tr80's grippers, or is it sort of the rotax or cosworth of ossa and they are totally different from stock ones?are tr80's desirable bikes and what sort of price do you think i can get for one thats running well, sound frame which has just been powdercoated, and good box?
  24. i never said it was in poor condition, it is in fact in quite good condition considering its age, all i need is a gear shifter and piston rings for it, apart from that it just needs some paint on it, and the rear mudguard is cracked, and why buy a TY?they may be good and parts may be cheap but why just get something that everyone else has? i didnt actually get the bike with trials in mind, i got it to get used to a geared bike, as its the first bike i have ever been on, and as soon as ive tidied it up a bit im selling it.
  25. thanks everyone.yes it is gripper parts i am after, but money is a big object to me, being 16 and all. i would consider parts at decent prices ,tell me what you have.
