CONGRATULATIONS TO GAVIN SKILTON!!!!!
One of the Team Full Monty's elite members just texted me to say that he won his class in the Baja 1000 this weekend. Gavin is Honda's Ridgeline driver and has been tearing it up this year.
TFM rocks!

During the introductions for the Grand Finale they had the top ten riders set around the stadium amoung the crowd and they spot lighted each one as they high fived spectators. It was pretty cool to see all of our top men come down and humbly greet the crowd until they introduced that kid that was in 10th place. I couldn't tell if it was Tupac, Easy E or 50 cent coming down the isle in shades flashing us.

The real battle of the day was in my second moto.
I was pacing myself to ensure that I would make it through the day when all of a sudden I found myself on LAP TWO in a heated battle with the one and only Cody Webb. I caught a glimpse of him behind me and I went into full block mode to keep the giant behind me. Could this be it? Could this be my claim to fame? I fought long and hard with everything I had [about 2.5 seconds] but finally succumbed to the GREAT ONE as he slapped me upside the head and LAPPED ME!
Congratulations Cody on a fantastic LONG day of racing on both the KTM and the Sherco!!!
BTW Dabnabit, I rode all four motos and NEVER CRASHED OR STALLED and damn near had a clean loop in the morning. As my friend Brian said I was blazing fast except for the obstacles!
After reviewing the video footage, except for doing wheelies down the straights I was in definite contention for the tortoise award.
Also Congratulations to Geoff Aaron for passing and beating Taddy Blazusiak soundly, without question in the Main. For those of you that don't know, Taddy beat David Knight last year for the final, won Ersberg Rode[sp?], won Last Man Standing, etc.
Geoff took the third podium spot behind series points 1st and 2nd place Ricky Dietrick and Damon Huffmon.

They say a picture is worth a 1000 words. Since I don't know how to post a pic you have to view it here.

Yet another weasle move by the cityboy. He rides on the shirt tails of the Smages as a minder and all around roadie all year long yet when it comes down to the final he's flying while Pat is driving 30 hours.
I will be in the pits tomorow night and any of you attending are invited to stop by my pit and have a beer [White GMC on black Pro comps lifted 9" pulling a lifted White 37' 5th wheel, license plates: Ringo 5's].

I'll pick up my bike and carry it past the finish line before Craig if I have to. Besides, I just replaced the air in both the front and rear tires and have fresh CBR stickers so I'm good to go.
-
I hope you were wearing your knee pads this time.
-
Copenhagen,
You've missed waaay too much. D&ckhead has been trying to weasle out of the bet and finaly p*ssed me off by calling me a liar, cheat, weasle, etc. Not cool, but then again he never was.
For anyone 'out of the loop';
Last year in Vegas after Endurocross Craig challenged me to race him on the trials bike this year in Vegas and I quote " Hey Ringo, why dont you bring your Montesa here next year so I can show you a thing or two". The challenge was made for this years Endurocross, which at the time was only ONE RACE. There was no series at that point. I accepted the challege and added the $1000 bet to back myself up stating that I would finish ahead of him. He accepted via some BS about his share going to charity. Either way he accepted. When the AMA made the round series Craig was able to ride every round as he gets to ride along with the Smage crew for free so he had an excellent chance to get TONS of practice prior to the Las Vegas showdown. After the first round he realized what a world of hurt he was in and, the SNAKE that he is, decided to work up the whole BS story that the bet was for the entire series. Although this has been hashed over and proven multiple times by witnesses etc. I decided to let him off the hook and offered a 'gentlemens' bet so he decided to shoot off a post telling everyone that I was a weasle, liar, cheat for backing out of the bet.
So....There is currently no bet but everyone knows the truth and we'll see what happens when the boots hit the pegs and the gate drops. Hell, now that I'm 40 years old I may not even be able to finish a lap.......due to a flat!
Thanks for the tip Sendero! I may be the first to run the Maxxis on the Montesa.
-
Does anyone know whether or not Craig still has braces? I'm researching the type of terrain my rear tire will be traveling over.
-
What? You think that because Jen is riding I need more than two 4RTs? I guess it goes without saying,,, the more Montesas in the garage the merrier. Or is it " He who dies with the most Montesas wins"
Thombstone quote of the day
I've got TWO Montesas... one fer each of ya
-
Dude, you're so right. What the hell was I thinking?
I should go back to the old "non politicaly correct" style of writing that brought so much flavor to this board. It seems that a few of the original cast of colorful characters...Sendero, Bagger, etc. don't post much anymore due to the fact that when we do the criquets start chirping.
Kinda like telling a blonde joke to a blonde!
Well we have a new president now so things are going to change [as if they weren't going to before]
Fraceman will start drinking Bud Light
Ishy will join the Sons of Anarchy
Sendero will start riding quads
Bagger will get a job
Eric will start posting again and come out to ride a CA event
Craig will start reporting the truth
The beave will start asking others for advise and stop giving it
Any other predictions???

Has the NATC ever 'gone in the hole'?
Is there an NATC rep that posts on this forum?
We can speculate, charge, accuse, praise or congratulate all day long but it would nice to know if there were someone actually responding with factual insight.
-
Honey, would you grab me another beer?
I wouldn't mind seeing what the NATC expenses are, how much is paid to the AMA, insurance, etc.
It's darn right hard work to have to fly to a meeting location, get hotels, drink beer and discuss trials with other fellow trials riders who are enthusiastic about the sport
I'm actually surprised that the NATC meeting isn't held in Cabo San Lucas.
We have a monthly meeting werein we do the same thing for our local trials riders, discuss when and where the Southern California Trials events will be held and on what dates.
-
It may be nuts and trialcross has nothing to do with observed trials AGREED. BUT, it is proposed as an optional way to encourage the "observed trials Marshals" to put on an event. Endurocross draws riders including trials riders so it may have some merit in bringing the needed entries that Ishy is talking about.
I know far too well what Ishy is saying and the lack of support is getting worse. I'm at the point where I'm happy to take my family out for a weekend with some friends and simply ride the motorcycles without all the politcs.
-
Thanks guys, I'll check it out.
-
Ishy, I proposed a plan... see trialcross / national plan above. Let's do it!
-
I may have to travel to Quebec and would love to drink some Canadian beer with a Trials rider there. I also need to know if anyone can refer a truck & tractor mechanic in that area to perform an inspection prior to purchasing.
Fraceman, wanna go wit me?
Cheers
-
Ishy,
Is this what the sport has really come to?
Isn't the sole mission of the NATC to provide a 10 round competition series?
Isn't that what all the money given to them is supposed to pay for?
Has the NATC failed to do what it's sole purpose is and that is set a 10 round competition series????
Here's a thought:
Add Trial Cross to the national series to give 6 rounds. Have clubs in the same area host a one day national on Sunday since Trial cross is on Saturday. Each club in the area only has to host a ONE DAY trial for their club on that day and add PRO lines.

Craig,
When we made the bet there wasn

WE'RE GOING TO CHIP N DALES!!!!
-
That would be our President Capt. Paul Oswald.
You see we do things a little differently here in So CA. While Kip holds my bike, Paul tosses me up to it. The idea is that I land on the pegs and ride the rest of the way up!
Of course you guys can come up with your own descriptions of this one and yes, I'm leaving myself waaaay open.
Picture was taken by Mark Kariya [sorry for mispelling]

Seeing as you are clearly backing out of the $1000 bet with your impromptu excuses I propose a new bet.
The event: Trialcross Novemeber 2008
The prize: one dollar and a six pack of Alaskan Amber delivered to my hotel room that night.
The bet: I will lap you if we race in the same heat.
-
Dawgonit, I knew I shouldn't have let my FIM license expire. Kip is already well trained to save my bike:

I suppose you'll be sipping TWO double jack and cokes in Vegas after killing it in Florence???
