  1.  Hi. Pscharauber. I own several bultaco sherpa because I am a great fan, not only about the brand, but about the technical of the Bultaco sherpas. I appreciate your high expertise in this model.

Now, I am writing you about a post you wrote some time ago, regarding the middle exahust of the Bultaco Sherpa. May be, you remember it. In this topic, you talked about "There are some very good articles that where published in the German Trialsport magazine in the begining 80's about these exhaust systems, how they work and how to set them up if you are interested PM, (warning contains a lot of formulars). I personal have got through them too, but decided the effort would not be worth my riding skills. " I am really interested in these articles. Could you send me some information about them?

    Thank you in advance.

    Antonio

      Well,

the information is not the newest one but a good hint what to archive, also not sufficient in aspects but a good starting point and explain the basics.

The calculation of the intake and the (very important) exhaust calculator by former Herculles is a good tool anyway, I need a your personal and valid e-mail to provide further information.

      Greetings

  2. It seems I am stupid, I have deleted the hole topic by mistake...
But I am very sorry, your tensioner is for newer models (yellow) from 1980. For Guanaco I need other, attached on the sprocket guard.

      Well,

a friend of mine has a SWM like mine and it us a red Guanaco, mine is the first yellow Guanaco TL. NW and these both share the same szeel swing arm and chain tensioner. You see tge tebsioner too in the parts book for theguanaco. It is not uncommrn that fasteners to old bikes where changed  a bit to fit parts that where made for other brands and models.

  3. Hi Patrik, I bought an Aprilia air cooled 280 in a box. Had some bits done and started to put it back together. In the box with the Gearbox bits, ther is a tensioner of some sort which I can't place. Nothing the like on the SWM 125 and 280's I've rebuilt so far. any ideas ? I can send a pic but I wanted a first thought. Wierd, I usually fathom things out but this has got me boggeled.

    Thanks,

      Hi Phil,
as I mentioned before. very early ones did have it different the later ones changed a bit the design to what what you have there.
The engine number leads to a later unit when I compare to my 1980 SWM Guanaco TL.NW which is from the first yellow make.

I' am in the process of producing aluminium axles for the SWM, made out of 7075 aluminium, much labor intensive, costs depends
to the time, the around price is beeing calculated right now, whioch is a good weight saver nearly one kg!

IF You are interested, as each additional item made makes the production run cheaper,
payment is in advantange to the producer in Belgium or it will NOT happen.

      Greetings

      Patrik

      Hi Phil,

that is from a TX300? Not the engine apperently, what about the engine number?

I have something "inbetween", as the workshop and parts books of my Aprilia not in hand,

      see in the attachment.

To the manual of the TXR the picture is showing inside the gearbox similar stuff,

(Beside beeing of an newer engine not fitted with a rotary valve, so also the "new"

set up inside, like the TXR 312 or very late TX 311 had).

      Greetings

      Hello Phil,

that is no. 239 755 the index spring and no. 248 977 the index lever assembly for the TXR 312 engine (definetly

and may be the MKII of the late TX311) so you are swapping / mounting a very late aircooled mono engine to which bike?

The trust washer is no. 227 800 16,2/21/0,4 I can't see, is missing!, the other item above must be no. 945 840 the locking ring DIN 471 15x1mm.

The assembly should sit down right, the roller facing upward towards the engine casing.

Oh to chain tensioners there are some very unique varaitions especially if the bikes are older and the owner a cheap guy.

Anyway I've got curious now looking forward to the photo. I have two creations too in the garage that I found on used bikes that have been engineered by someone that wanted to save money...
