hiya the timing is 3 mm b.t.d.c & inmotion sell a timing tool for about 8 quid that screws into the plughole & the points gap is 15 thou ( of an inch not sure what it is in metric) i hope this is helpful peter

i have started using a synthetic oil BUT have just smelled castrol r at a friends which i didnt think you could get anymore & have decided to go back to the old faithful if nothing else the smell brings back old memories

not sure of the year but i think its 1969 , if your bike is before then you can have one of them honkey ones if its after that you have to have a continuous one but i,m sure in motion & sandifords sell em , they are only a tenner or so & need a car remote battery

hi mate i,m similar sircumstances as you i,ve returned to off roading after a very long time , i presently ride a 1200 bandit on the road but bought a montesa 349 cota last year cos i,m too old for mx sidecar anymore & look forward to playing with it this year welcome mate peter

will a magneto for a seventies 247 cota fit a 349 ? as there,s one for sale & i,m thinking of bying it a a spare thanks

thanks for that i,ll experiment with different oils & ratios when the spring gets here + i think my carb needs setting up properly because it fires up first kick from cold or hot but doesnt rev up as responsively as it should do , a bit fluffy & ive cleaned out the carb & put a new airfilter on cheers peter

thanks for that , i was going to use 25/1 ratio but wasn,t sure & i,ll also go with castrol as i used to use castrol r years ago ( nice smell too) & i,ll use the outboard oil for my chainsaw thanks peter

hi i know this will be a well worn subject but i,ve seen several conflicting reports what is the correct fuel oil ratio for a mk 1 cota 349 bearing in mind i will be using mineral oil & not the sinthetic as i have loads of it in the garage from an outboard Also i would like to know how much air to put in the forks when i replace the oil on a previous bike it was 8 p.s.i. which i will probly start with cheers peter

msm is the way forward , its an insurance geared up for trials/enduro . they won,t insure supermoto or unregistered bikes (for more than 14 days ) & you can use your bike for everthing excluding business & to and from work but i dont suppose many people would like to use a trially bike for comuting , the quote for my montesa is

i know this topic has been discussed in the past but i,ve had conflicting reports & my memory isnt what it was but does anyone know the correct fuel/oil ratio & how much air should be in the forks of a mk1 349 thanks peter

hi just a new member & thought i,d post a pic of my skoot i bought in the autumn , it needed a bit of work but only needs a brake cable to put it back on the road now cheers peter
