  1. The first video has been posted plus some photos http://bosunsbikes.smugmug.com/2015/Talmag-Jan-2015/
  2. My mate also went airborne there but unfortunately ended up face down in the dirt as his bike went sideways while in mid air. But I would love a photo of that as well.
  3. Yes what a cracking day today was. The sections were about right this year.
  4. I see they have admitted they cocked up last year with the sections being a bit hard and then the rain on top. I did feel a bit sorry for them with the weather last year. But its very difficult to get the right balance if the weather changes.
  5. We had to phone up as one of our guys got his unsealed envelope back with nothing in it and the others have heard nothing. There is nothing on the interweb that we can find either
  6. I will see how it goes this weekend. If its the same I will try the sheet steel idea or I may just rivet it over for the Talmag.
  7. We finally got confirmation that myself and my 3 fellow Taverners members are in this years do. So if you are going down expect to see a Panther being thrown around and at the scenery by me. As long as I can stop it spitting split links out of the rear chain that is. I have moved the gearbox over a bit and bent anything I can see that might be rubbing on it out of the way. Fingers crossed I will find out this weekend that its sorted.
  8. I told you it went well
  9. I don't see how a bike died to create it. its only got a Triumph engine. I'm sure the Gagg family have more than enough engines and bits and pieces lying around to keep making these things. Oh and it goes as well as it looks.
  10. It was me being a knob. Not noticing that the default setting for that site is private. Sorry about that. I am just uploading some shots from our road trial held on the 21st. There are some very nice bikes in that album
  11. yes they are mate http://gautrek.imgur.com
  12. It was the first round of my clubs trial bike series today. For pre 57 bikes. I didn't ride as i am still waiting for my company car and the guys who normally can fit my bike in their van if I am stuck were busy. I popped over to observe. Click on the thumbnails for larger pictures Ian cramp on his 1930's 350cc Levis. One of the few times he was upright. This bike is a total loss oil system and has exposed valve gear. a 1950's 350cc BSA Gold Star a 1930's 350cc Ariel a 1950's 350cc BSA B31 More photos can be seen here http://gautrek.imgur.com/all/
  13. That's ok mate. if you could send me the Panther down in return that would be great I would stick my few photos of the day up on this site but I seem unable to . The whole section at the top of the posting section is greyed out.
  14. Well I have had some good news. I popped round my folks today to tell them about the weekend. After explaining about how it still keeps dropping out of gear I mentioned I was looking at fitting a later Burman box once I track one down. To which my dad replied I have one in the garage if you want it. So I returned home with a complete box which spins and doesn't seem in too bad nick. Even my spare clutch fits. I think its a GB box which was made in April 1954 I also got a barn find box off ebay last night for £35. Its rusted solid but that doesn't matter as I only wanted the cases as I need to get a new mount welded on the front as my Panther box has mounting points at 3 and 6 oclock. So I don't mind butchering the ebay cases as they look rough anyway.
  15. What a brilliant day out this was. Much merriment was had in the pub the night before. The weather was about right for this event. I met up with Jon at the start and then saw him a couple of times on the course. Unfortunately my gearbox is still not happy with staying in 2nd gear so all the climbs were a bit much for me with only having first. I span to halt on them all. I have decided that next year I will do the old mans route. I have also decided I must bite the bullet and fit a later Burman box as the one in my bike is only a medium weight one and I think the low gearing is too much for it. So if anyone knows of a complete burman box with clutch going then let me know. It will entail major surgery on the panther as new gearbox plates will be needed.
  16. I am setting off a 9-45 so will have a while to hang about. I have finally got mine back together and made it down the petrol station and back. So 80 miles should be fine. The good news is the box seems better and hasn't dropped out of 2nd gear yet so I may be ok attempting sheep s*** hill ( or what ever its called) . I did bottle it last year.
  17. Deryk I'm afraid to say I haven't seen Pete for a while. But I don't think he has made much more progress. He has a mobility scooter to get around so he can now at least leave the house when he is on his own. I will pop over to see him soon. The good news with the bike is that my new springs from Australia turned up today so I didn't need to pick up the newly made ones. I will pick them up later in the week. I got the box back together and noticed another issue. The return springs actually catch on the gearchange pawl spindle. So I have had to knock this out and then file a flat on this and move it round so the split pin clears. This took me 3 or 4 attempts at rebuilding the box before it was all together. But we seem good to go. I just need to stick the box back in and then attach a horn and my tool rack and then we are ready. By the way my number is 54 if you see me Jon.
  18. Its a British bike 4 stroke only road trial. I hope I can get a return spring for my gearbox tomorrow. When I was assembling the gearbox last week I got all the covers on and tried the gearchange . it felt a bit funny so i took the cover off to find one of the 2 return springs had snapped. AAARRRGGGHHHH. I couldn't find one anywhere. So a good few days were spent and eventually I tracked some down in Australia . I ordered his entire stock up (4) which cost me £38 delivered. They may or may not be here by this weekend so another plan was needed. I popped over to a local spring makers last week and showed him the remains. He said yes he could make me some up but they would be in round wire not square. There is a minimum charge and he could me me 4 up for the minimum charge. So I so I said go on then make me 4 . They should be done tomorrow so fingers crossed one way or another I will be mobile again this week. Oh and the minimum charge I spoke of Well thats a grand total of £22 for 4. What a result.
  19. I have tracked some down at the vintage bearings place. last time I asked which was years ago they couldn't get them.
  20. Well I will be going if I can source or get modified an output bearing for my Burman box. The only bearings I can find are too big. For those who don't know its an English size bearing with a metric bore.
  21. I'll try to meet you this time unlike the Talmag. We are staying in the pub the night before.
  22. Anybody here doing this trial this year? Myself and around 8 others from my VMCC section are doing it again. I'm on my 37 Panther.
  23. Its either a very nice sought after bike which will be lots of fun to ride. Or a Cub which was poor when it was new and hasn't got much better over the years. Or to put it another way a nice 500cc single to plod around town on or a 200cc single you will have to thrash the nuts off to be anywhere near safe in modern traffic. Its no contest
  24. HHHMMM lets see this or a Cub. Well thats easy. Why would any sane person buy a Cub?
  25. Try this blog mate http://oldnailsandswarf.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/bantam-improving-part-two-contains.html
