I remember. Good luck with the course.
-
Yes Andrew.
This debt issue is of course part of business.
I remember Estonia So let explaining to me that Bultaco were always having cash problems and always running for more credit notes from Francos government.
The old Montesa on the other hand were much more financially secure ..... but not because of family money but because non motorcyclist mad Pere Permanyer revelled in designing smooth manufacturing processes that made money. So it was money first. .. then bikes ?
I was lucky enough to meet and interview Jordi Permanyer recently . He led old Montesa and negotiated the deal with the Japanese , staying on with them until the 90s.
It's very interesting and throws a different light on the whole Montesa operation . I'll get the interview online soon.
It explains how to make bikes on a big scale.

Your dead right about small and streamlined. Theres no money in trials so dont go spending it..................and that in my opinion was just one of the reasons where Ossa did go wrong. The bike is excellent , i loved riding it..........but those snr guys at the factory - Christ they could spend money.
Sexy factory
Company uniforms for everyone
35 staff in the factory when i visited
Full liveried factory race truck
Factory riders from the outset
Custom commissioned architectural factory sculpture
Computer controlled parts shelves
An expensive bike to actually put together
And all of this money was spent on the back of a bike that had some problems
This is modern Trial history and theyre still making mistakes.
Ouch !!.Its such a pity but it was written in stone . The management just spent way to much and didnt sell enough.
I have some photos of Ossa 2 weeks ago and Christ ....the difference between then (2012) and now is startling . Talk about bush weed blowing across the factory floor.
I met one of the 2 the bosses and some staff for a chat
Ill get them online soon.
Ossa and GG are still separate companies . The general hope is that Ossa and GasGas will be sold for a Euro - loose its debts and rise again.
I hope so .

And our sport at this level is going to continue to get less popular as a result.
No regulation has seen it develop itself beyond recognition.
-
Christ !. The new boy even knows my name. What a bundle fun he is - not.
Not so new i bet.
Most of us choose a bike based upon many factors. These include performance , reliability , light weight , styling ,pedigree and more.
It's clear that all your interested in is reliability. Christ that's boring. So you've got a walker plate that'll do 100,000 miles. Whoooopie do.We could all but one as well. ..... but we don't.
Your on the wrong forum. Don't come on here slagging off our beliefs.I dont give a rats back side if Spanish bikes are less reliable that Japanese bikes. I buy them because I love them. You see its passion. Something you don't understand .
Go back to Road racing and save your breath.
I can see you on a bandit . Parts are cheap. ... they're very reliable.... Have pretty good handling... but oh ..... they're bl@@dy boring lol.
-
Some of you guys are getting the idea.
Who the heck would make a trials bike and hope to make money ?
Only the passionate often blinded by passion. !!!!.
Of course it's a real small factory . It has to be , to keep overheads low .It makes sense to keep over heads low.
Imagine how many bikes GG have to sell to make ends meet each month . That huge factory doesn't run itself.
It's completely unfair and shows great naivety to compare Japanese manufactures with Spanish trials companies. I mean. ... What freeking planet are you on ?. I've never read such stupid posts..... but then you ride a Honda ... so you'd never understand.
Anyway JGAS ... like all Spanish Trials manufacturers are doing their absolute best. ...... even if they have put the fork stickers on the wrong way around lol
-
JGas are still making Trials bikes down in their Girona factory . In my opinion this wont change.
I was at the JGas factory 2 weeks ago and thought you might like to see the photos.
Ive been to factory a few times now since 2012 and nothing has changed from the times ive been there previously. They are still building Trial bikes and sending them out in crates to their importers.
There are still the same number of employees there assembling bikes and doing other tasks as youd expect. Nothing has changed.
They are working on other projects as well , such as the enduro bike......but it all takes time and they're not rushing it.
Trials bikes and motorcycles generally are very close to the heart of the boss of JGas who was the joint founder and boss of GasGas . He lives and breathes motorcycles and is obsessed by them. Trials and enduro bikes are very close to his heart.
JGas is just a small operation making very special bikes in small numbers. Its surprising and somewhat strange for many people to understand why he isnt scaling up production and shelling them out like peas ......but the owner of JGas is involved with other businesses and is a busy guy and JGas demands time.He likes to be involved in everything.
This is his project and he's quite happy with things as they are.
I do think there will be an increase in Trials bike production next year with the 2016 model to get the bikes out in the number that is required. The 2016 bike features a number of refinements and improvements.
He has received UK importer offers and is considering them.
I dont know the ins and outs of what Jack Shepard is doing , but from what i see on the internet he is doing Trials display shows , having fun in the hills with his mates and riding National Spanish Trials.
Soooo. JGas will be back in the UK. The bike deserves to be
Sorry about blurry photos
-
I think your right , the FIM just didnt inform anyone for fear of looking daft ,going back on a rule change
-
I know exactly where all the money has gone and why and more than likely where some of it still exists today.Ive only found this out because I've made it my business to look into it . It's taken me months and months to discover it all.In doing so have come to realise that it is not information that anyone wants public let alone just for a little Sunday afternoon enjoyment.
Sorry Ham.... You'll have to go on blaming it on some old problem engine story.
-
Sorry but you assume wrong
-
The Israeli investors are keeping the brand alive. ... that's where the money is coming from. These guys love Gasgas.
-
Come on you didn't believe that did you ?
-
I know a lot of people who work at the factory in Girona .... and they're not hopeful.
Last week I went around the factory and the Ossa R and D dept. .. which are like morgues , with nothing happening and only a few staff in the whole mirror factory. Nothing is being made but they're doing they're best to get parts out.
Many workers have already been laid off .
They general consensus is that they need cash flow from either the Israeli investors or the Gvt ... but neither are providing this.
The view is people who work for them is that they are going to be allowed to go down and then something debt free will raise from the ashes.
I dearly hope it works out for them.

Hi Fastbelly
Ive ridden the SSDT 3 times so im no expert on this but have dabbled.
The sections are not a walk in the park. They are considerably more difficult than the Normandale rounds i have ridden. A few sections are easy , but most are challenging.
Your fitness is really important. If you have crap fitness you will suffer and by day 3 start to seize up.
I know its billed up as a clubman event.........but that depends what club you belong to.
If your used to riding rocks all day long then you have an advantage. If your a bit overweight, dont ride rocks often and dont do fitness........then shikes !!!!. Its going to be a tough week.
Do not underestimate it. Its a hard event for typical clubman riders.........so get training , jogging etc and get your entry in asap.

I recently visited the factory and contrary to what i thought before , JGas are still assembling bikes on the production line and still have the same number of employees as before . They have orders for new bikes and are fulfilling them as quickly as they can .Development work is also still being undertaken and they have drawings of the 2016 bike. Theyre missing a UK Importer but theyre talking to people i know at the moment so fingers crossed they'll reach an agreement.
Jgas factory are not very good at PR and communication , especially at a time like this , when customers want to know whats going on etc etc etc. They should have updated their website with some news of whats happening ........but i think theyre sticking their heads in the sand and licking their wounds etc following their problems in the UK. I know theyre bad on answering emails as well. I think its as much as they can do to keep up with their orders and keeping the parts coming in to supply this.
I hate to say it ....but untill there is a new Jgas importer this lack of info isnt going to change. Theyre might be a new importer in the UK...there might never be one. Yes this is dismissive of current customers in not giving us information. I think the boss would say - You can spares from the previous Uk importer Steve Saunders or via the Jitsie website and we are trying to sort something out for the UK.
Because of my web i get regular updates from the factory. Ive no crystal ball for the future , but in my opinion and knowing the boss quite well he's unlikely to stop making bikes.
-
I agree. The bike looks and sounds terrific. With Dougies values behind it , I have every confidence the Vertigo will be spot on
-
One thing really surprised me yesterday at the trial. One championship rider was walking my section and he said 'Riding up these banks isn't trials. The Land we've got is much better with more rocks'.
I asked him "So you not normally ride on land like this with huge hills and climbs ? " and he replied 'no' citing the Penrith venue as being much better and just perfect. His mates all around 20 years agreed with him.
I was blown of my feet !!!. My Christ !!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Have we bred a generation of riders who are only interested in small venue Hop skip and jump trials ?. A generation of trials riders who don't think hills and climbs should be in sections ?
It sounded like these boys want to be hopping on the level jumping up steps and that's all they're interested in.
This is obviously all led by WTC events which are exactly this. ...... but what a crying shame. I've never felt so detached from modern trials.
If these boys are representative of the others then BTC trials has turned a huge huge corner away from anything I consider to be the best type of event. What ever the severity of the event. .... In my opinion Butser is an amazing venue ........ but is becoming clear to me that land like this isn't wanted by the young riders coming through.
We're this lads representative of most out there ?
-
I observed at the Butser trial today. The riders who really impressed me today were Wiggy , Sam Conner , Joe Baker , Michael Brown, Dan Thorpe. I forgot Ross - very smooth almost no throttle. ... Obviously a rub off the SSaunders block in that regard.
Christ they're smooth quality riders. Casales appeared quite a way of the mark. Hope he gets better.
-
We'll see tomorrow. There'll be no soft hopping bopping sections at Butser just huge blasts and climbs up into the clouds that'll sort the wheat from the chaff. Can't wait !!!!
-
A beautiful bike. I love mine. You can get spares no problem in Spain. You boys are looking for plumbing gear at the auto factors
-
That's a great result. I can't wait to see them tomorrow at Butser lime works
-
A prototype has been running since before the Milan show in November last year , so its is getting a hammering in the Spanish hills.
This not a rush job at all.
The whole project is very tight lipped. They do not want to give people the impression its coming out ...or on its way ....untill the machine is entirely ready.
Given the state of the Spanish Trials industry at the moment, if things dont improve for the brands in crisis ..... TRS could be entering the market at just the right time.
-
And there will be more JTG recruited importers who switch to TRS .
So people of the Trials World .....are you starting to work this out yet ?. It aint hard !!. Its just business
Importers obviously like money and no hassle. They believe TRS will provide this easier ....... so they're switching ship. Its as simple as that. They are not allowed both marques as they dont get on.
There were a few bike problems . Which bike hasnt ?. But theyre sorted .
This has got nothing to do with the JTG bike.
So you see now ................................Its just business and political.
Good luck to the importers ......after all , its just business.
-
Its only pathetic that the rider isnt battling on to the ends cards . Whhhhhiiiimp
I remember watching Mark Watmore jumping a ditch at Dunsfold and snapping his Scorpa in half like that ........and as i dropped into the ditch for a lame 5 ........ it made me realise that only men with big doo daahs snap their bikes clean in half .
Reeeeespect !!
