Dont let Dadof see that ......Pc World run run out of keyboards !
-
Jotagas are still in business . Everything I know points to this being just a temporary glitch. They just need a Uk importer.
-
Steve's riders are contracted to him , not Jtg and Sxs will look after them. He's told me that.
It's a bad day for JTG. I just hope someone is out there whose capable enough and willing to do it ......
or I'll have to do it ....... and my wife is dead dead. dead against it ..... and she cooks my food and washes my clothes so I've got to listen to her , just a little bit
-
Steve Saunders had worked relentlessly to take JTG forwards for the past few years. Recently though , despite his best efforts he has found it impossible to work with the factory. Its as simple as that.
As a result Steve is no longer importing JTG and this position is vacant.
He still had his existing stock of spares to sell and will continue to look after his customers , as he has me.
It's all change ..... but there's a new opportunity for someone.
-
Ive been following Jotagas very closely since the very start ......up untill the present day. Im in weekly contact with members of the company . After consideration ...its fair to say i know more about this company and its plans that almost anyone else, but not everything by any degree.I have the plans for the future company direction, figures , photos of planned models , and have seen the very drawings themselves of next years models as they take shape. I get a lot of information . I dont know what they get out of me....it isnt money . I feel somewhat privileged to be trusted like this and as a result I keep my mouth shut as you would given trusted info in confidence.
So i apologize if i defend Jotagas ......but its in my heart .
The Jotagas story is the most incredible , controversial and rivetting read in Trials you will ever ever come across . But like many great stories it cant be told ....because it will upset people, who are my friends .......so it will remain silent , along with all of the other stories that peeps dont want told .......but cant help telling themselves ha ha .
JTG are still making bikes in small numbers but they are a small company . Spares availability isnt a problem as far as im aware . Let me know if you have problems .. and ill help ---- no not sell ......just help . You might find this info helpful
There will be an announcement soon
-
Teedubbs - I have pmd you my tel no . Call me and i will give you the boss's telephone number and you can phone him up yourself and find out the reason why your bike is not with you
Simple
-
Its not bad that . If i was running the event id want to see a bit of money in my back pocket. Its only fair . Good luck to them and thanks for going to the effort to make it all happen. It takes a lot more effort and cost than a club trial .
The World round in 1988 cost the Waterlooville club tens of thousands ...and they never recovered.
Hosting a World trial is not to be sniffed at and deserves a return.
-
I dont know about them failing as often as you say Dadof . I have no knowledge of this .....but ref your comment on a redesign is backed up what people in the industry have told me .... that GasGas havent redesigned their bikes due as the cost implications are HUGE. Also Xiu Serra who is the designer of the GasGas pro engine told me in the interview that he has improvements to his pro engine design ....but he just hasnt been employed in this field to implement them.
Here it is -
"Its not so strange for me because I do this so much . I have been thinking how to reduce the components and finally I find a way with less gears to make the same speeds. I make the first test of this 20 years ago and up to now in my opinion this was one project that after 1 or 2 years needs to improve , because every day you can improve something. But GasGas has been making the same gearbox for more than 20 years That is a good testament for you . Its good for me ,but my passion means that I want to update and make this even better because everything can be better. When you develop you can improve.
Xui Serra interview - www.retrotrials.com
Do you think you have the opportunity to improve this system? Now I am working again for GasGas but I am working actually more to improve the production and industrialisation and not new things."
-
Ive never had a problem getting anything. One guy i know couldnt get a rose joint for the top of the Olle shock ......but didnt contact Olle.....and couldnt work out that its a item available at bearing stockists......so just moaned.
Theyre a tiny factory so there's going to be delays on some parts. Its obvious.
Lets face it ...for most people we trundle around sections and dont give the bikes a hard time at all. I dont worry about the slight chance ill not be able to get a part that im not going to break in any case . Thats daft.
-
Greasing the bearings is a 5 minutes job where on traditional suspension its much longer... resulting in it just not getting done.
The side shock looks nice as well getting lots of interest and just making it different .
It works well . I cant fault it.
-
This is the latest teaser photo from TRS that theyve been sending out. It gives a good feel of the bike especially when combined with the drawings from a photo they also released. These might not be the final drawings ...but if they are the swinging arm looks nice.
Here are the 3 designers - Jordi Tarres - Mecatecno electric owner + Honda Trial designer Jordi Mila and Mila design studio designer Jordi Vinyoles. TRS put this photo out.
Flip the photo over and then crop it ......and you have the designs ......... I checked and they're quite happy these photos going out , as theyre only drawings and might not be final
-
Montesa are sponsoring the event so get to pick the wild card rider ..... so .......they picked they're own. Its a recent press release but Busto has had this Mont for some time now so its not that new to him.
I expect Fuji will take a managerial position in the team.
-
Drop some fuel down the plug hole and then kick. That often cures these sort of problems and clears bits out when the bike starts. If it doesnt start this way ......youve got problems. Good luck
-
Ive been there a couple of times and bought bits and bobs. Very friendly people and their shop is a very short distance from the location of the old Bultaco factory
http://www.retrotrials.com/romeros-bultaco-shop---the-home-of-bultaco---barcelona.html
They do not speak English. Im sure Bultaco Uk can get you anything you want over here .
-
Hey Dadof - Sorry - Id give you a big hug if you were here and hope you wouldnt take it the wrong way
Daniel is so right - We all feel a part of these motorcycle companies that weve grown up with and worked on etc . We are just genuinely interested in whats going on. Thats all.
Whilst lot of information is in the public domain ,a lot of whats said , is said in confidence and the people just dont want it mentioning and talked about. We can all understand that . After all its their business .
Just imagine forums talking about our business and the reasons why we might be having problems. Perhaps weve had a divorce , or our kid is taking drugs . We wouldnt like our linen out on the washing line for all to see and on these forums.
Its just not what they want. I think in time all of this information will come out .... Its no great shakes. Theres no secret ...they just ran up a big debt - my wife will explain to anyone how to do that .
This GG issue is just money , with a little politics thrown in.
Everyone i speak with in Spain who are up on the story thinks GG will be fine and that this is just a hiccup. I'm sure theyre right .

Dabster - On a relentless quest to rid TC forums of BS. Don't expect to retire soon.

Gasgas have had difficulties in the past and pulled through. It is still highly likely something will be sorted out in the very near future.
Dadof - the reason why this thread is not given information by people in the know is because people like you cannot discuss it reasonably. Your comments so far on Tc make it clear that you cannot draw reasonable conclusions . You twist and contort what you've said to fit the argument of the moment because your so desperate to appear on a higher ground than everyone else with a professional knowledge on so many things . It's a pity.
Many people have visited the Gasgas factory over the years and many know what they make and what they don't make there in some detail. They also know where and when the debt was run up.
Would they tell you and want to discuss it with you on here ? - Hell no
Gasgas will sort this out . Good luck to them.
-
Well thats jinxed it
No....I mean it . You actually have jinxed it
-
Like all the best food TRS is being slow cooked. It is not going to be available to buy until 2016 giving them time to test it properly. There is a real sense of calm with TRS . No rush. Let's get it right , first time. There will be a 250 ,280 and 300 model and the 300 will be the first to be produced.
There is a working proto that had clearly been made from a CAD design and this is what is being developed and tested.
I was surprised to hear that the development model will likely be coming to the UK for testing. It's good to hear that our mud will be taken into consideration. Perhaps it's going on a round the World tour to gauge reaction from the their people in those countries.
If you ask 100 people what they think , you'll end up getting 100 different answers lol.

Well done Mick for posting this up
Dereks a wonderful guy and real pleasure to be around . The biggest injustice is that we dont know more about him , because rest assurred as well as 60 years of riding hes spent a lifetime in Trials .He's been sponsored ,ridden every trial in the UK and beaten most of the riders he was up against .
He was a proper wizard on the pegs and even to this day is very smooth and a very wise rider.
He worked at Comerfords as the Sales manager, met umpteen personalities there including Steve Mcqueen. He then sat up Len Savage motorcycles with Len , who had to sit back almost immediately due to ill health. This is just scratching at the surface of whats he's done.
He's been helped by the lovely Daphne , his very understanding wife who has accompanied him to so so so many events over the years knitting the car whilst he was off riding.
I love the guy. Hats off you to Derek !!. I challenge anyone to stay as fit as the big "DC"

The early Merlin have the Nagesti 110 internal diameter rear hubs and this would mean that the new spokes I've got would be no good , so I'm holding out for original as this would be better every which way you look at it.
The JCM weekend hubs look very similar . Steve , is this Nagesti unit and is out 120 mm internally ? .
This might just be the right one )
-
Thanks but wasn't this last Jcm on a disc rear.
Whatever your answer the 323 might be the one...... getting one might be completely different.
Any other good suggestions gratefully received.
The Nagesti 120 must have been used on a heap load of bikes ..... but which ones !!
-
Im restoring this 1986 GasGas 325 Halley at the moment and Ive run into a problem.
The rear wheel around the bearing is cracked beyond repair. Weld would simply break at this stress point and in any case the metal does even take weld, particularly well. Welding is out of the question.
It is a Nagesti 120mm internal diameter drum rear hub. Nagesti were absorbed into Akront.
Merlins were fitted with 110mm Nagesti's so this is not good enough.
Does anyone have any knowledge of other bikes that this rear hub was fitted to ?
Thanks in advance
-
Thats good to see Zisko. Thanks
