Ive got a swb Vivaro after having a swb Traffic before.
Yes, it will take 3 bikes no problem. Ive had 6 in mine without the front wheels in , but i wouldnt recommend that many.
Ive racked up high mileages on both and i havent had any gearbox problems although ive heard of them happening. Youve just got to be gentle with it. You get people just jerking and forcing it into gear and then surprised when the linkage goes. Its only the external linkage nothing inside.
They are very reliable.
Ive had no gearbox problems.
One steering / suspension arms wears and needs replacing every third mot , but they are only £100 fitted for both sides.
My 1.9 turbo has more then enough go and gets about 45 MPG empty and 35 MPG full.
The rear door handles need respect - dont just yank at them .
Would i buy another - yes

EBay is just one place in the World to sell but its obviously so inconsistent and gets rubbish prices a lot of the time. At that moment it was the best price that eBay could reach but that's all. It didn't prove anything , only that none was motivated to buy from eBay , that bike at that moment.
I think there's still a lot of people who wouldn't touch eBay and would happily pay dealer prices which are much higher than EBay. That is how dealers pay the rent , or not as the case may be. I think most people buying an Ossa or any other modern trials bike would want to see it close up before they commit . With this in mind , would possible bidders really travel a good distance to view the bike , then come away again to bid ? . Nope.. It often turns out to be a waste of time.
Buyers want a bike they can buy , not a bike they can drive to view then miss out on.
So, in many ways EBay sellers shoot themselves in the foot on auctions and its only good for bargain hunters and those willing to take a chance if the bikes local to them.
Other than that , it's flawed and fetches poor prices.

Go to Telford show if you can . Its later this month on 22nd and 23rd. There will be some bargains there. 2 years back i bought a new set of boots there off a small trader for £60. Its a good day out as well.

I bet Xiu Serra is VERY busy at the moment. His position is a bit like a lawyer. He comes out winning every time no matter what happens LOL.
-
Trialsrfun and steveo ,
Jordi's project is completely independent to Vertigo.
-
Its really sad and sobering to hear this news. I'm really gutted for everyone who worked there and built the business up from nothing.
It just goes to show how difficult it is to remain viable in the motorcycle industry these days.
Good luck to you all.
-
It's always a good place for a cheap set of boots , one pound cans of chain lube, retro mx videos and meeting Yorkshire farmers with cloth caps Can't wait

This made me happy .
Kev won't mind me saying this. On Saturday we went out practising. He is Kevin Nolan ,a very very good rider. He's expert level and I've never seen anyone hang off a bike like Kev fighting and waiting for grip. A truly ace rider whose mostly know for winning the Normandale last year on the modified swm.
He is a much much better rider than me. He always has been
Any way...... he took out a brand new demo sherco 300 and I was on my Jotagas 300 14 model. . We set up a simple section consisting on going down a slippery step hill and then back up again.
I was first on loose leaves with loam underneath. The Jtg went straight up for a clean. 3rd gear riding on the bottom of the revs.
Kev tried no less than ten times on the sherco and couldn't touch it AT ALL.
He jumped on the Jtg and was straight up for a clean. He repeated it on the sherco and again had a big five. He could get out and had to push the bike out with me pulling. Then I cleaned it again.
The sherco was absolutely crucified in this comparison test.
Tyres were the same along with pressures.
We worked out what was going on. The JTG power delivery is totally flat. The sherco is sift for the first 300 rpm them comes in with a rush and the exhaust barks. Nothing incredible. We're not talking mx bikes here , but the sherco wanted to deliver to much power.
Kev was gutted. Everywhere he rode on it , it was spinning out.
It's no mystery.. it's the power delivery. The Sherco had way more power. Great for enduro or rocks in Spain but not mud in the uk.
Later we tried a different section requiring traction and again the sherco didn't grip on the slippery base. Kev immediately said' let's go' in disgust after cleaning it on the JTG. He picked up straight away and was straight on the phone to Steve S for a new bike.....lol.
Remember ... he hadn't set up my JTG at all.
So from this direct comparison with no advertisers to keep happy... out of the crate the JTG is much much better.
Kev came ready to buy the sherco. he's desperate for a new bike , but after this out went straight back.
On this one day the JTG made me better than Kevin Nice one.

Ok. Still running standard. Can't bear to have another spare carb lying around and spending130 on what I've already got
I've just gone down to 38 on the rear to get the speed up on road trials. Talon make trick looking rears.
I've just modded the rear chain tensioner and wheel to stop it rubbing slightly on the rear tyre when your in mud running very low psi. It's surprising how much power it can sap.
Just small changes. Bikes running great. The rider is letting it down though
-
This was very disappointing but Unfortunately it was inevitable and the writing was on the wall for months. He didn't get a lot of support from Jotagas, not even spares at events. James from Jitsie helped out but his minders were his school mates. I suppose this bit I'd understandable but It was a bit ugly and embarrassing to see him struggle like this. I helped him out with some costs .When Jordi was there he looked after Eddie . After Jordi left no-one really took him on. He's a rising talent BUT beware his secret love is going fast off road .I wouldn't be surprised if he disappears from trials all together if he doesn't get the success he wants.
-
That makes a lot of sense . The cataclysmic failure of Jordi Tarres' prototype Beta at the late 80's SSDT didn't stop the bike being a great success.
-
If successful., it would be an amazing debut
-
They're very brave debuting at the Scottish. They're obviously very confident. It's not exactly a dead cert any bike will finish let alone a brand spanking new model. I hope they're testing it on 25 mile road runs , dropping it in rivers , starving it of radiator airlow and waking it up early in the morning.
What a project though . Id love to be immersed in a project like this in the sport I love so much.I could stretch to a project kiddies trike but that's about it . If anyone can take this bike to a debut win at the Scottish it'll be Dougie.
-
I'd buy one lol. Yeah I know your right .... why do you have to get all logical !
-
A garage queen it deserves to be . Very nice they are as well . The last efforts of a land mark old great company .They werent to popular back in the day but theyll be classics and quite special one day. Nice job as well. How did you come by the plastics and spares in the picture ?
-
Hi pops of 2
Only because in my mind the standard mono class is getting a little crowded these days and perhaps there's a market for a reasonably priced twin shock that's good value and good quality. It's just a thought. Did the 80's Montesa Honda sell well ?. Part of the appeal of riding an old twin shock is because it is old and that it had a history .Maybe a well designed , well built competitive twin shock would sell ? .
How about an old Gasgas air cooled engine on a light weight twin shock frame .Marz forks, decent rear shocks , Gasgas might sell the rights to that engine. This bike might have difficulty fitting into a national championship class but perhaps it would get a following.
It's there any mileage in making a bike like this ?
-
Yep , three. Jordi's and Dougie's plans will obviously be serious as thats the sort of guys they are.
The Merlin guy is clear in his desire to build a bike but there are thoughts from Spain that its just to launch the marketing a brand of clothes and do just something with the name he bought. Perhaps just keep us fans there hanging and hoping. There is nothing to suggest this but if he released a good twinshock, priced circa 4k , would it sell ?
This guy is an enthusiast and this is his dream i guess, however its one thing making a bike and its another putting it into production. I just hope he does it sensibly and in moderation and doesnt throw everything hes got ,at it
-
Steveo , the early models 2012 fell in price but i got 4k when i part exchanged my 2013 Jotagas for a new one so its not so bad.I was happyish (if you can ever be happy paying 1500 for 8 trials). The dealer sold the bike straight away so it worked out for him. Id hope for the deal again at the end of the year. Isnt this on par with other makes . I know those who import theirs and buy last years bike seem to lose only 600 - according to someone who does it , but it isnt a new flashy bike and theres something nice about that
-
Tele your spot on with all of that . If you wire the rad guard on , you can pass the wire behind the frame so it doesnt spoil the lines of the frame. Oh so vain ha ha
-
Im sorry to hear your having these problems. The read guard def needs wiring on and the rear tyre rubs on the chain tensioner on anything less than 3psi , but you can mod it yourself in one hour. Espania run at 4psi+ so they don't have this problem.Im told the factory have been asked to sort it .
I've never heard off the engines rattling at all. Does it sound like rings or what?
I've got a mate whose had rear brake problems . It was always seals in the master cylinder. It's such a pain though , especially in a new bike.
I love mine so much as I haven't had the problems you have but can understand you frustration. Good luck . I'm sure Steve will help out
-
Here's the Merlin guy telling the paper about his plans. Apparently his father used to sell them , so now hes decided he wants to make them.

Yep and a guy called David Reyes from Barcelona has bought the Merlin name from Gasgas and is planning a new model for later this year.
Could you Adam and eve it
-
Perhaps you wouldnt ......but back in its day it was a trials shop to be proud of and well worth a visit
-
Perhaps it will Fred.
Hondas always have had a good following and strong loyalty . Their buyers also seem to have a little bit more money. Certainly the price and the expensive after market addons available out shine the availability to other brands.
Will buyer be clammering after your 4Rt om 10 years time ? Probably , but perhaps not at the price you want. Did the 15K unridden RTL sell at Eddie Aitken motorcycles? There is your answer .
If Honda pull the plug , then youve scored . If they dont they youll still get your money back , if not more.
Ps - are you the Fred Savage from camp road Farnborough?.
Although it wont bother any smitten Honda buyer i dont they are much cop. I rode a brand new standard model a week ago. Decent chassis , lack lustre engine
-
Biffs , the weight increase had nothing to do with production bikes . It's just the bikes being ridden in the WTC. They can still make their perfection bikes as light as they want
