  4. How much movement have you got in MM? Is the crank moving or just the flywheel? Check that the flywheel nut hasnt come loose Check that the washer behind the nut is fitted. Without this there maybe insufficent thread on the crank to wind the nut on far enough

    Try a very light gear oil or ATF re the slipping.The oil will disperse from the plates quicker. If this fails , replace the springs as they are probably old and saggy after all those years
  7. I hear what you say , but ive had magnesium engine cases and wheel hubs welded successfully by a number of welders at minimal cost.Each 3 foot 95% mag rod cost only a tenner , then some time . About 40-70 quid for a good amount of work and saved me hundreds . So the components dont have to be replaced , they can be repaired cheaply. I dont agree with that fact that only a few riders can make the most of the weight saving. Riding gets easier for everyone with a lighter bike. If this had been the view all along wed all be still on modified bultos from the 70's. We wouldnt be attempting half of the sections today at club rounds if we were all on Bultos . If we didnt want progress we wouldnt have Beta evos , Shercos ,new Ossa's or Gas Gas pros at all. The lighter the bike , the easier it is for clubmen to move it around, mid section, bounce, and pull over rocks. The factories will never risk huge quality issues and getting huge recalls and warranty claims so they wont make anything to thin or to light. My point is that the minimum weight rule should be reduced to 60KG and let progress continue.The quality wont be affected as factories cant risk it. The price cant rise as the consumers wont buy it. The consumer is safe.
  8. Thanks for those posting those pics online so quickly. It was an absolutely cracking event. The level of the sections was perfect for me being a clubman rider. Some were difficult and some werent , but none were daft. It was the best event ive ridden in years. I went over the handlebars twice falling into the bogs on the moor crossings . Ha Ha I also stalled the engine in tricky river crossing and completely submerged the bike. Thanks to the guy who leant me an allen key. Cleaning out the filter and box , the bike started up 2nd kick and ran faultlessly.Couldnt believe there was no water in the carb. It was breathing steam for a bit .Ha ha So an eventful event full of drama. Thanks Bootle for a top trial.
  9. Beautiful bikes. They have all reached the minimum weight as per FIM rules , so they arent allowed to go lighter. Club riders could , i suppose.
  10. I cant help you wth the pants , sorry. Its a pity to hear about Xciting. Xciting and Hebo are all owned by Mezbo parts in Spain.They are based in the old Gas Gas factory and were originally the old clothing company of the 80's "Remoto" . This was started by Mr Narcis Casas , Gas Gas owner and sold on, years later. Unless Mezbo have found a knight in shining armour , they are up the creek without a paddle and have to much debt , stock and not enough sales.The Hebo brand may live through , who knows. Its interesting that the shrewd Mr Casas has started a new clothing company "Motts" at the time his former company is struggling. If Mezbo had cut their margins on their far east clothing then they might not have been in this pickle. As Del boy said "Stack em high and sell em cheap"

The wife and i were rolling around every time he came on. Don must hate this video sooo much or maybe he takes it on the chin

  14. I know these gearboxes fairly well. All i would bear in mind is that the selector drum should rotate easily , changing gear as you move the drive shaft round simulating the engine moving. Ive recently had a partially seized bearing on the end of the selector drum which gave the same symptoms.Where the drum pushed its head through the inner casing from the gearbox to the clutch it was also binding tightly causing the same problem as yours. All id advise is whether it involves stripping the engine make sure the selector drum rotates easily without snagging Good luck

  17. I must correct myself. There is no plastic near the chain tensioner , it was black anodized alloy and looked like plastic , so no issue there, my mistake. Also looking at the Gasser and the Beta the silencers are partly made of plastic also and they dont melt , so these wont. So , looking at them I can't see any obvious problems. They're clearly for the discerning buyer who wants to be different as new 2011 gasser were there for 4k in the next row. The JTG looked SPOT ON and was made the new Hondas for 7k(!) next to it , look absolutely huge. I'll post some photos I took of bits I thought Interesting
  18. It's courage I think. Im one of others I know who would love to build my own bike but having the courage to remortgage and financing it would be the problem . This guy will be remembered for producing this bike which is more than many will. It looks good in my eyes. Ok its not the best and it won't sell in huge numbers , but hats off to the guy , all credit to him. He's spent the money and produced a good bike.Weren't we all told its all about trying , not necessarily the succeeding.
  19. I spoke with Mr Greeves today at Telford. He's still heavily involved in the modern trials bike that was unveiled a couple of years back. He mentioned to me that they will shortly have produced 40 bikes and that the aim was to reach 400. Production has been moved to Holland. I got the impression that bike sales were being concentrated on abroad. One bike has just returned from Spain where it was undergoing exhaust development work which has released another 3 bhp. S3 have developed 3 different cylinder heads to adjust compression. Another air box and filter is being developed giving significantly more flow and intake. He mentioned that they are in the stages of signing up a previous Ssdt winner to ride the new Greeves. I wish the project all the best. It takes massive courage to do what this guy has and is doing.I hope it starts to pay off for him as he must be in , for a few quid by now
  20. 2 300 models are in the UK on the Jotagas stand at Telford. They look ace and even better in the flesh. The frame is beautifully tig welded and has a gorgeous shine to it. Each component looks well designed and beautifully made. It has a new brake lever from the Milan show version. It's a tiny bike. The engine is tiny with tiny fixings assembling it. It's almost dolls house stuff compared with the size I'm used to. Nice special levers, anodized spokes and mudguard stay. Only vulnerable bits are possibly the plastic that is next to the chain adjuster, won't the silencer get so hot that the plastic on the rear box melt? It's hard plastic so it'll be ok I'm sure. The factory would have rectified it if it melted I'm sure. It's got a Dellorto as well. I much prefer this to the kick in power of the fi on the Ossa. To sharp for me , I need things to happen slowly. It's a lovely bike and in my opinion looks better quality to the gasser and beta. This along with the exclusivity and the Tarres connection , gets my vote
  21. Ive just come across this. Heres an interesting article from a 1990 edition of DBR. Surely the idea of carbon fibre pistons makes sense , for all of the reasons in this article. So why didnt they take take off? Any ideas?
  22. Thats good to hear and will make this show even better.Even the Spaniards dont put on an off road show like we do. Their Autoretro show earlier this month wasnt a patch on Wrighty's. What with the Tarres' appeal to us oldies, it would be a good place to launch the Jotagas in the UK. Mind you,thinking about it, the moaning criticism of some bikes in the past that comes from some members on this forum might lead manufacturers away from shows and use TMX and other safe mediums instead. Looking forward to a good show Wrighty and after dinner speech !
